[POTENTIAL FIX] It might fix your crashes, stutters, and FPS drop

Hello people, i had seen both 3 issues since the 28th launch of TLOU. I've test few stuff, some worked, some doesn't. I share those tips for some of y'all who may have yet those issue.. they fix my problems, don't expect it to work on your side

it depends of your rig, your windows version, your graphics card etc...

CRASHES

- Those crashes seems to occur once the game take all your ressources of the rig, the problem is that natively graphics settings or just a mess so here's the thing :

1. Download and copy-paste-replace this file oo2core_9_win64.dll in the main game folder

2. Make sure u've install the last WLQH driver for your graphics card
3. Make sure u've update your windows

STUTTERS

1. Enable your DLSS/AMD FSR, put on quality and sharpness at 30
2. Disable the kinetic blur
3. Enable the FPS limit at Maximum 80 even if you have a 144/240/360hz refresh rate screen

FPS DROP

- The Maximum i did to keep the game beautiful while still be stable at 60 FPS is those settings [see those links for screenshot of my settings]

That's it.. i hope it will fix some of your issues, i understand how frustrating a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Triple AAA game is still a bunch of crap just cause of port. Feel free to ask question and comment with some fix you might know

For every setting wich is in High or Ultra, u can put them down to medium/low according to your rig

Hey i already do the oo2core things but imma try you're settings i have a 2080ti on 344x1440 i can get a stable 60 fps with DLSS quality but gote some dips on place with high vegetation, anyway thx dood

I'll add don't ever download DLLs from unknown sources including this link. I fully understand the potential workaround here due to them using a bad version of a library, but you're better off getting it from a safe source (like another game that uses it).

im playing on mostly medium settings 45 fps isnt the worst

Ok thats cool, yeah i think we just need to be patient for a really GOOD fix about performance, but u got it.

And i have the 3440x1400p resolution too

Good post and great that you are trying to help but it is pretty sad that this is even necessary, especially considering this game was delayed three weeks from 3rd to 28th March for additional polishing! A lot of good that did!

I was getting constant crashing on my PC (i5-13600KF, 32 GB, 10 GB RTX 3080, Windows 11 Pro 22H2) while playing the game and always within 2 to 15 minutes. The game would literally freeze for around 20 seconds then close and the error reporter window would open on the desktop. I was using the 1440p High preset with DLSS Quality as recommended in the system requirements. The crashes were getting annoying and were similar in many ways to the ones I was getting in Resident Evil 4 Remake when using RT until I realised that I absolutely had to stick to the VRAM limits of that game. Since then no crashes in that game but as Digital Foundry pointed out it should not be crashing due to RT anyway.

On topic: I was able to finally play this game twice last night without any crashes for an hour and actually exit the game myself! It felt like genuine progress. I am not 100% sure what fixed it (if it is fixed since it could feasibly still crash after longer play sessions) as a weird thing happened: DLSS disappeared from my Graphics settings after the 36 MB patch yesterday so I only have FSR and Default. The game did still crash once but that was with FSR. Once I switched to Default (native) then the game appeared to be stable so all indications are that DLSS and possibly FSR as well are buggy in this game. Not sure why DLSS disappeared: did the developers remove it in yesterday's patch because of known issues with it?

Another thing I did, which I don't think is actually the cause now since I changed these settings without realising DLSS was now missing, is reset the GPU overclock to their defaults in MSI Afterburner from +75 on the core and +500 on the memory. I suspect this isn't the cause because Afterburner reinstated the overclock while I was playing - I don't think I had saved them properly - and the game never crashed.

I do think that the issues I was having were due to DLSS originally. The error reporter window that opened did mention something about the GPU crashing which is what led me to think it was the overclock but, of course, DLSS could also be the cause of a GPU crash as well if it is buggy which I think it is. This game uses v3.1.2.0 which I have not seen anywhere else.

I won't be adding any links, just an FYI for security reasons. If I wanted to spread a virus, this would be a great way to do it. Especially a zero day (which by definition has no detection). I'm not saying anything's wrong with your link, didn't look at it. Just a general warning to use extreme caution.

A DLL (dynamic linked library) is executable. It's no different than downloading an EXE from an unknown source. And some people might not know this.

How is this post helping !? You just said what is logical and that is "reduce settings or resolution and use FSR or DLSS", every person would try that to get higher FPS. The problem is performance is bad even with reduced settings. I have gtx 1080 and cant make the game work with stable 50 60, tried medium, tried low, and default was high. FSR also does not help at all, I have second gen Ryzen 7, and 32gb of ram.

Sorry to disappoint you mate, but your graphic card is really really old, so that's why you coudn't use properly the DLSS and FSR, of course its a remake for PC port with all new technologies, so don't expect to run this game with this GPU. I recommend u to change your GPU quick
