However, FSR is open and anything can change and of course modded.
However, DLSS swapper does work with FSR and XeSS now. So they may update it soon to work with FSR 4.

From the look of it you will be able to "upgrade" those games using AMD's driver panel.
This was decided long time ago when GPU and FSR 1-3 design decisions were made. All without machine learning capabilities or requirements necessary for such upscaling technologies. It was a bad decision not to follow Nvidia early with developing much better machine learning based upscaling. FSR just never could hope holding a candle to it without such tech.
AMD is now literally forced to have a technology more or less exclusive to more modern GPUs.
I have a RX 7900 XT btw, since 1 1/2 years and I will keep it at least until the Radeon 10000 series arrives. I only use upscaling when I have to anyway and in such cases I use XeSS then (maybe FSR 4 can run similarly on RX 7000 at some point) or TSR. Not optimal, but well... . It is basically only UE 5 games that require upscaling with the GPU I have, all else runs sufficiently even at 4K native for now or I run the games at 1800*3200 instead of 4K in some very special cases, which still looks much better than using FSR :). Would FSR 4 be nice for my GPU? Sure, but I can live without it.
For all who think they cannot, either buy a RX 9000 series directly or wait 6-12 months and see if AMD says something about FSR 4 on older cards then. Easy, no reason to buy everything on release, it is what often drives prices into high heaven you know :).
Either way it's an important upgrade that AMD desperately needed to compete with DLSS 4 this generation other than RT performance. They've been on par or ahead of Nvidia in Raster for years now. But hopefully their new FSR4 equally as good as DLSS 4 once benchmarks come out or within a margin of error.
I'm planning on buying a 9070 XT to replace my RTX 3080 with as nvidia has completely outpriced me from an upgrade path with their current pricing tiers. I am not in any lifetime spending $920 on an RTX 5070 tier GPU because all of the AIB's are charging $900+ just because they can and RTX 5080's are retailing for $1200+ if you can even find one.
Same, I spent so much money on GPU's last couple of gens. To a GTX 690 ($1K), 1080 Ti SLI ($1500), and currently also using a RTX 3080 ($850).
If the 9070 XT is actually ~38% better for 1440p gaming vs. the 7900 GRE. Which has very similar, if not better scores compared to the 3080. I may pick it up but def going to wait to see actual user benchmarks in games.
As $600 for an almost 40% improvement in performance I feel would be worth it.
The Sapphire RX 7900 XT is the best quality GPU I have ever owned so far and powerful enough to make for a pleasant 4K experience and it has the VRAM to support full texture resolution at 4K. Just forget about Ray Tracing... (which I feel is a scam anyway, even most Nvidia GPUs cannot do it properly).
Yes, AMD does have disadvantages when comparing upscaling and Ray Tracing, but that Nvidia is so much ahead in market share despite openly scamming the customers is a bit insane. The 90/10 share GPU market is completely undeserved in my opinion. AMD drivers and software are honestly quite a bit better than Nvidia drivers, very powerful for tweaking the GPU, no stuff like MSI afterburner is needed... .
When AMD offers a more high end GPU again I will certainly buy, if it is not completely messed up :).
The 9070 XT is not really such a useful upgrade from a RX 7900 XT, so I am out :).

ig updated fsr in a patch. possible they'll do an official patch for version 4 aswell. if not driver hack will do the same.
Being that no updates are currently being done to the game by ND. As per steamdb. It looks to be only driver level at this time.
I guess we will know more tomorrow, but doesnt look like the game will be updated just yet.
For all we know native support could be coming but it's unlikely. ND have implemented FSR 3.1 precisely to allow FSR4 to slot right in at the driver level.
Huh? Steamdb works for me still. The last update for the game was to Steam store 23 hours ago. Editing the publisher and Franchise info. As well as still showing last public release and previous changelists going back to December.
As with the release of new GPU's today. AMD has also released new Adrenalin Edition 25.3.1 driver. It is confirmed to be done by them and TLOU is on the list.
As per native FSR 4 support. It looks like Pt. 2 will have it as per AMD. Who knows, maybe ND will add it for this game after its release.
