Completed my first play through.

There are very few games I've actually finished. Not sure what came over me, but I got bored one night and decided to give The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered on my PS5 a shot—and WOOH!

My jaw dropped more than a few times. As soon as I hit the ending, I went ahead and bought Part 2. I decided to try it myself instead of relying on reviews from those disappointed with the sequel. I wanted to experience it firsthand. At the end of the day, I'm in it for the story, but I have to say that Part 2 feels incredible with its added gameplay features and enhanced combat. Overall, it's a much-appreciated improvement that stays true to the original formula.

I guess I'm just here to say that I'm happy to finally be part of the club. The Last of Us is an amazing experience!

That said, a part of me feels a little disappointed now. Imagine the only games you've ever fully completed because of their compelling storylines and gameplay are the Metal Gear Solid series.

TLOU is now the fifth game I've finished without ever skipping the cutscenes. It’s made me realize that stories this good are rare in gaming.

I've decided to pick up Heavy Rain, Forever Home, and Mass Effect (and I’ll check out the Uncharted Collection soon after) to see if I can find something equally satisfying. I guess what I’m trying to say is that playing The Last of Us has set my expectations on another level. So far, I’ve found very few games that measure up.

And being in 2024, I’m seriously doubting we’ll see many new, original games with truly great stories.
