Since you had a NVIDIA card, and swapped to an AMD. It would be good to clean out both of those drivers. So what you want to do is run DDU twice. Once for NVIDIA, than for AMD. Once they are both cleaned out. Install the latest display driver from AMD again.
The guide is in the DDU link I posted above. Do that and no need to disconnect or unplug your GPU.
you shouldn't install or uninstall anything. i think your software setup is fine. your hardware, especially the cpu and maybe the mainboard and ram is just a lil dated to run this game satisfactory.
the fact that HL:Alyx runs on your machine is just the fact that valve® optimizes the source engine and number 2 to run on toasters and look good for what they wanna portray. :)
tlou was coded for the ps4 with a lil bit more software beef, that may not run on a "toaster" cpu. you'll need a solid "waffle iron' vector unit and a lil more than that. :)
Actually not really. When swapping cards it is wise to use DDU. As using the uninstaller or using add/remove programs to run the uninstaller will leave behind junk in system and registry.
Doing a clean install for NVIDIA or AMD only defaults settings. It does not scrub system or registry files. Which could be causing a conflict.
That is why DDU is recommended by NVIDIA and AMD also has its on utility to remove drivers.
Im looking through my task manager and nothing from NVIDIA seems to be running, id rather not deal with the hassle of potentiality breaking something because i dident know what i was doing.
I still have the NVIDIA drivers but they dont run at all and i cant uninstall them, im pretty sure they are just there for in case i get a NVIDIA card again. What im saying is after getting my new gpu card, VR on PC started crashing for me, and seeing as increasing virtual memory fixed my last of us crashing and black screening (the same problem i have when playing vr on my AMD) do you think it would also have fixed my vr problem?
DDU will not break anything. But if you dont want to use it. Thats up to you of course.
Its only a suggestion to improve the driver issue/conflict you seem to be facing. Regardless if the process is running or not.
If those drivers are still installed. Even if not running. And you can not uninstall them. Its because you didnt uninstall them before removing the card. Now they are probably conflicting with the system. Thats is why you cant uninstall them.
Running DDU would solve this. As they should not be there at all since you no longer have the card installed.
Just run DDU and that should solve your issues. Especially after what you are saying. That VR was working before but not now its not.
So just uninstall everything nvidia?
No. As stated above. Run DDU twice. Once to remove the NVIDIA driver. Than run it again to remove AMD driver. Once that is done. Install latest driver for the RX 570.
Alright, is it necessary to use safe mode?
Yes, 100%.
The link to download DDU i posted above. It has a guide with instructions on how to use. You can also watch a video to see what to do before you begin.
Again, Running in safe mode is a must and make sure to disconnect from the internet before you begin. This way windows does not try to install the driver as you are doing this. It will cause another conflict.
Its all in the guide. Just make sure to download the latest driver form AMD before you begin.
If you arent comfortable with this. Totally understandable. Just ask someone you know who is familiar with PC's or just watch some videos until you feel like you are ready to do it.
Ill do it in the morning because its late evening rn. Ill get back to you then.
Ok, GL.
I’ve completed the deletion of both nvid and amd drivers. Seems to have done everything correctly im now just installing my amd drivers again
