youre further in i think. im at the outside segment in the rain
where exactly does it crash? shutter section? you mean after the dialog at the gutter exit? that's a heavy scene change. showing you the full shot of downtown. lower graphics for this moment might help. this whole scene is kinda heavy. lots of particles. fx slider.
i have, at least this time my computer dident black screen and this time just kicked me back to steam
gpu: radeon rx 570, 8gb vram
ddr3 16 gb of ram
before i was using a nvidea gpu at 4 vram andthat was able to run half life alyx (poorly) but it at least dident crash. this gpu always breaks VR
i'd advice to close every other program you don't need at this point. also increase the virtual memory in the system settings to something more. iirc i used 8-10 GB back then.
you know howto do that? or i could provide a screenshot.
means of this is to give the game every byte of ram and virtual ram available. that's how i played thru it when i still had 16 GB.
Glad you gave a response that isn’t just “get better hardware” like i just have the money for it.
Yeah its able to run 30+ fps and i guess that must be the explanation. I also dont know how to increase virtual memory :/
in the settings app open system. go into the about section at the bottom. go to advanced settings. https://i.imgur.com/sb0xbw3.jpeg
from there follow the arrows in the windows and change the size of the pagefile to 8 to 10 GB, the numbers are in MegaBytes. yours might also be on the c or d drive. i'm just setup differently. https://i.imgur.com/5QL8OoB.jpeg
Actually nvm im trying to figure it now. Im on the page with virtual memory im not sure what i should be editing here?

Alright i put the numbers in, i can just revert my changes if this breaks right?
but... sure you can revert that. you'd have to reboot to resize smaller tho.
