Is it wrong to mod the game?

I found a mod that makes the game run a lot smoother, but i dont know if modding the game is wrong or not

You would have to try for yourself. Since this is a single player title, you don't have to worry about getting "Banned." The game is very hardware demanding, so if a mod really can make this much of a difference, it might be worth it.

Then I would have to ask under what moral, legal, or religious code would it be wrong to mod this game because I have never ever heard such a thing?

I would be really surprised if there is anything related to ban. I would be more concerned if the game was a multiplayer title, or had a multiplayer component. I would not worry at all.

No. This is PC and you've paid for the game. It's the devs' fault for releasing such a broken mess, how can anyone be punished for cleaning their mess?

Hello! As far as I can tell you really should be fine..! I did some quick googling and it looks okay..! There's even an official Nexus Mod page for the game I think, so other players are already plenty comfortable modding!
