I've either Defender, but didn't got the "error" (on Windows 10 that is).
His 1st advice is good (verify game files), but do not add anything to the exception (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/threats/malware-encyclopedia-description?Name=Trojan:Win32/Cinjo.O!cl&threatId=-2147201903).
There could be something on the system trying to attach itself to a processor like a game exe. Run a system cleanup, redownload the game, and verify the game via the Steam client
In cases like this, I take no chances, I wipe the windows and fresh install. Nothing important then your privacy

If you have not downloaded any weird files before, this was simply a false positive.
Otherwise be careful what you download / open. ;)
I would never add any application to the exceptions, if I am not sure that they are harmless.

I was soooo sure that I do not require it.
But I needed this program for Hogwarts Legacy to find a missing collectible. Unfortunately the program told me my savegame got bugged, but also gave me links to mods to find it.
This program gave me either an alert by my defender.
I refused to use it for my first char, as more than these things got bugged and I am not happy about getting an alert by defender.
Yet at my second char, ONLY 1 thing was missing, which I could not find.
Nexus does its own virus scans and would never allow a file with a virus in.
Therefore I gave that mod a try and as told... Was finally able to get a real 100% char by fixing the bugged collectible.
So I am happy that my OCD to get it all made me able to break through my paranoia. :D
You sir have no idea how it works. You are telling user that "IF" they haven't downloaded anything, 80% of times users don't even know "IF" they downloaded anything. You sir need to calm down, you don't need to own video games to understand how what virus is or how antiviruses work.

But don't listen to randos on the internet the ones telling you to add anything to defender's exception. Being paranoid about your system security is a good now. "Being relaxed" is what these they want you to be so they can have their way with you. Never take your system security lightly :)

There is nothing that attaches itself to the "PROCESSOR".

Correct, only if the user surfed on dubious sites, downloaded dubious files or opened any dubious emails.
And when running a scan... wait actually 2 scans, without any findings it's quite clear that there was simply a false positive.
Virus scanner look for a specific function some programs perform.
And as noted in my example, a simple mod program can also fall under these conditions, while it is not harmful.

Regarding catching a virus on PC...

The user had no virus, he had a false positive otherwise the system scans would have brought up findings.

The game EXE is one of them.
Mods from Nexus should be clean either, even though I was not happy about getting a notification and had to add the program to the exceptions.
And again, the OP did the system scan but without any result.
If Defender finds ANYTHING it will alarm the user, like with the false positive. ;)
