Crashing on compiling shaders *NOT NVIDIA*
Hi, I know the game crashes for a lot of people on the newest Nvidia drivers when loading shaders and the usual fix for that is installing an older version of the drivers but I'm on a Radeon RX6600, anyone know the fix for AMD? I've tried the most recent drivers as well as the previous version so i don't think its the same fix.

If the game hangs during the shader building process it shouldn't be an issue with your gpu driver. It most cases it's because you don't have enough system memory (RAM, not VRAM), or your Windows page file isn't large enough (or both). This is a game which prefers 32 GB RAM and a larger page file, but a lot of players wrote that the game is already satisfied with 16 GB after the latest updates. The last, but not an unimportant point is that the shader building stresses the cpu very hard, so it gets rather hot, which could also cause a game crash.

I don't think it's a RAM or a CPU temp issue as I have 48GB of RAM and a pretty beefy processor with a good cooler. Never heard of windows page file thing though, whats that?

Leave the page file alone if you don't know what you're doing. You have more than enough RAM to run this game. It isn't about that.

Sorry for trying to give some hints. Some intel about a pc system would have been helpful.

Sure, I have the following:

CPU: Intel i9-13900KS,
AiO: Corsair iCUE H150i ELITE LCD XT,
MoBo: ROG Maximus Z790 Apex,
RAM: 2 x 24 GB of G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-8000 CL40,
GPU: Asus DUAL Radeon RX 6600,
PSU: be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W

Holy hell! You have a quite mighty rig there, sir! I was wondering,, that GPU of yours.. It's crappy low end card but otherwise your system is on NASA level. I mean wtf is a card like that doing in a system of yours? :D You should be rocking 4090 in there!

Thanks! The RX6600 is the gpu from my old pc that was still relatively new so it felt like a waste to already buy a new graphics card. Rest assured when I do my next upgrade the gpu is top of the list for whats gonna be swapped!

Откатите видеодрайвер на предыдущую версию, мне помогло

In BIOS, enforce all CPU limits, or in the intel extreme tuning app. Dont boost over 5GHz. Put it back when its done.

This is a good advice. I have downclocked my i7 13700K to 5,1ghz and set power limit to 200w. The last 53 watts are "empty power" You get 15c more heat but gain only 2% of processing power. Slight undervolting also to help to keep temperatures at bay basically without any performance hit.

For anyone from the future looking for a fix on google, I had to completely reset my PC for unrelated reasons and while reinstalling everything I figured I'd try the game again cause who knows maybe it'll work this time, well apparently doing a full system wipe fixed the issue and the game runs fine now. Sorry I can't provide specific reasoning I wish I could :c

In my case I only had to increase the Windows virtual memory from 0 gigabytes to 8 (more if you want) and with this the game now runs perfectly. I have already passed it two times.

Rx 6600 too and 16gb ram

The game does not run if the page file is disabled. A "token" page file of 4-5 GB is enough for me. With an AMD System at least it is certain, that the game does not run at all without a pagefile, no matter the rest of the system.

Try out the lossless app - I only have 16gb RAM and am able to play it on a mix of medium - high settings. I set everything to low/quartered resolution - put on the Lossless app while the game was booting. Then it was just a matter of waiting for all the shaders to compile and load. I have no issues running this game now.
