That’s not true, you can play part 1 at 1080p low settings with DLSS/FSR on a 4GB card. I posted a whole thread about it back in the summer because I got tired of people saying it wouldn’t work, because they were just guessing from how the game was at launch.
If someone is buying a new GPU, they should of course get as much VRAM as they can afford. This game was heavy on VRAM at launch, they fixed it. Lots of games will work with less than 8, you just have to tweak settings. Some games like Alan Wake 2 will slaughter a 4GB GPU and TLOU would also at launch but since version 1.0.5, the game will work (I tested it on a 3050ti 4GB). OP has some kind of glitch/bug happening most likely.
Low settings. As I told: lower the settings.
It's not incorrect.
Wrong.
That because @Gian have only 16Go RAM i guess ( i know about de VRAM alert box, but's it's an error, you need more RAM not VRAM), so you just need to manage "page file" correctly in windows. By default, page file is not enough for TLOU.

> (Give Minimum 14 Go / Maximum 15Go). It's very easy to do. You will have no more crash.
And if you want a much better framerate, you can use this "frame gen FSR3 mod" (very easy to instal too, and available in description). https://youtu.be/5PjvohPwmNM?si=NRvx_yrpItyiS7L6
(My Rig : RTX-3080 + AMD 3900X + 16 Go DDR4 (paging file trick) = I can play in 2560x1440p / ULTRA settings / Quality FSR / 110-140 FPS now (50-70 FPS before)
Problem is not RAM. It's VRAM.
The ingame VRAM meter in settings is projected peak VRAM usage and it IS accurate enough. It has nothing to do with RAM. 16GB RAM is enough for this game. It's actually listed in the Recommended specs on the store page.
I’ve seen this game use up 26GB of system RAM on a PC with a 12GB graphics card (so it wasn’t spillover from not enough vram) at 3840x1600 resolution. This is why so many people talk about the pagefile stuff, because really, they just need to buy more RAM. This game is prone to using a lot of it, The “recommended” is for 1080p and the proper system requirements look like this-

Just because it can use that much doesn't mean it will. There are plenty of benchmarks on YouTube with 16GB showing identical performance to 32GB systems.
It all depends on the resolution, graphics settings, system configuration, etc. and we have zero info about that from OP, so it’s all guesswork on our parts without him/her chiming in on the situation.
