Does the game have a built-in benchmarks?
I like to test different systems.

It does not seem to have a predefined benchmark sequence. The first 10 minutes of the game are pretty heavy (in-engine) cinematic scenes, with lots of things happening at once, so you can probably use this as a benchmark sequence.

Also, there is a built-in performance HUD overlay, but it seems to be broken. I found that enabling it causes stutter every few seconds and a lot of random “Please Wait...” loading screens.

Ironically, disabling the performance HUD overlay improved performance and made the game playable. I recommend using external software if you need performance metrics.

You can use MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner to show real-time fps counter.
No built-in benchmark like Borderlands 3 or Cyberpunk. +1 for MSI afterburner/RTSS. They are a little annoying to setup, but there are tons of guides online. You get a lot more info and metrics in the overlay compared to the one built-in to TLOU.

not apples to apples comparison. Built in Benchmark would be nice. What I can run on different systems.

You could make a save at the beginning when it switches from Sarah to Joel as the player character, when they get out of the car in the area with fire and lots of NPCs, that’s a very on-rails part of the game with lots of resource demanding effects that will mostly play out the same way each time. It’s pretty close to a benchmark sequence.

I like your idea. I hope it does not delete my current game state.

just create more safe files. i done the same while testing the "benchmark spots" of the game.

the city is the crowd benchmark. the rainy downtown is the particle engine benchmark. bill's town entry or main street are pretty good for overall graphics. lots of foliage and diverse building textures, and a pretty long shot down the whole street. the graveyard and houses stress the memory system. pittsburgh bookstore is the enemy ai benchmark. i would add left behind the helicopter from the barbershop as full interior benchmark. the last bench i had to do was on the balcony cutscene near the end. the widescreen shot.

I do not care about games anymore. I show games run inside VM better than on bare-metal PC.
