The Last of Us™ Part I

İstatistiklere Bak:
CPU going to 95° (NOT during shader compiling!) during gaming or in settings menu as well
Last week I wanted to play the game again, after about 3 weeks not gaming it. During gaming the CPU went up to 94°. Then I changed to settings menu to change some settings, but there CPU Temp went to 95° and effected an instant secure stop of the PC (not shutdown but fast blackout). Could start the PC normaly after this. But I didn't try the game again, cause it seems to be dangerous for my CPU (AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D). Other System detail: Mobo: Asus Strix B650E-E BIOS 1616, 64 GB G.Skill RAM. Windows 11 clean installed few days ago. Every other games (Fortnite, Dirt Rally 2.0, Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V) and applications are running perfectly, CPU Temp never over 75° in games, never over 89° in apps (Cinebench23 gives a 89°, but not over 90°, but it's an extreme stresstest)
It may be a problem with AMD BIOS / CPU temp control. But out of TLOU everything runs perfectly here. What can I do?

Like what others have said, it's the game not your computer. I did all the stuff you did trying to fix issues with this game as well. Never again.

It boggles my mind that people do not understand that tempratures have absolutly zero to do with a game and only with your system as a whole.
The only thing it relates to is when your CPU has higher workload and thus gets hotter. But again, that has nothing to do with a game, because technically a CPU should run under a 100% workload for hours without ever overheating.

You need to stresstest your systemn under a 100% workload and monitor your tempratures. If it goes beyond 87 degrees you have insufficent cooling.

Modern cpu's are designed to boost until it hits power or thermal limit which is in your case 95c, a better cooler may still make it boost to 95c but give more performance, to get less then 95c either power limit the cpu which not neccesary as 95c is within spec, or go overkill on cooling which is actually my personal preference cos its fun.
This game does use more cpu then other games its either that or reduced performance this may not even change in future, i would not worry about temps to much.

95 degrees celcius is higher than the worst case scenario of modern cpus with optimal cooling. What i just read is that Toshy (the OP) got also 89° at cinebench 23, what is unusual. My cpu cores get no hotter than 75° in my small pc case (okay, the wraith cooler makes really good noise, but what else shell i do ?). So, Toshy, you should take a look under your cpu and see if there is enough and evenly distributed cooling creme on the cpu (don't know the correct word for it in english) as well as adjust the fan control in uefi. Better bear the noise than a totally burnt cpu steak.

I'm running a 13900k and it sucks power and cpu running around 54c there is clearly problem hardware wise with your system / cooling i'm using gigabyte 280 aio nothing crazy.
not sure you know this but apparently asus motherboards had a terrible bios that was setting volts wrong when ram was overclocked/set on expo, that combined with new cpus was causing the pins on the board?/cpu? to melt and overtime not even be able to give accurate temp readings. no idea if this is your issue or if recent bios updates fixed that yet (only AMD issue i think)

Get a better cooler. I've got a Deepcool LT720 and I'm running 150F max with this game. Your CPU runs hot so you need a 360 cooler.
Absolutely nothing to do with the game, I do know that.
Maybe I missed it but what is your GPU? You’re not using the iGPU…are you?

Had the same issue 9900k cpu reached 95C on shader install , changed my thermal paste used thermal grizzly kyronaut it fixed from me also latest patch , reach max. 79C make sure your thermal paste is correctly applied my cooler is corsair h100i RGB platinum 240mm liquid cooler.

Sorry to say this is not true. This pure issue on AMD side and affects ALL ryzen 7000 processor. It is well known and discussed hundreds times. To OP, here how to resolve your issue:

Stop blaming the game for your inefficient cooling or bad hardware choices.

https://youtu.be/h9TjJviotnI very relevant especially if these temps scare you cos its perfectly normal, i just be woried when exceeding those normal temps where it throttles heavily, but that is cooling issue.

if the temperature in Cinebench is good, then it can't get worse in any game. In my case I don't get over 80c in Cinebench R20 and TLOU Part1 runs with max 76c. Yes the game is CPU demanding but a healthy setup should handle it without any problems, so don't criticize the game, there will be more games like this in the future, so get you'r typewriter ready for... :)

Well generally, no-game will be as demanding as CB20-23 bench. But the problem is he is using ryzen 7000 cpu, which basically out of the box is made to run idiotic. I already posted his solution two posts above, the OP is just ignorant to the hardware he is using, that is all.
