It’s because they did 0 optimizations, which was effectively confirmed with the latest patch addressing trash textures at low settings. I was saying it for weeks lmao.
They probably have 500k polygon bottles and 750k polygon milk cartons thrown about all over the game world textured with 500 MB textures.
This game lack of boss fight or big scene and RE way better in screen presentation.
There is no so-called next gen if it just pump up the texture and it just see your GPU underutilized. Prev gen has big improvement in open world but I still not see the point for current gen except ray-tracing support and this game does not have.
It’s not just a reskin to be fair. The AI was “modified” and animations were drastically improved.
That’s still no excuse at all, they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up big time with this release. There’s absolutely no graphical reason why a 4090 is averaging the averages it does at Ultra.

The game itself is no open world and has no wide shots, except for a few rare instances, but the quality of the textures is amazing
There is no game i know that has this crisp looking textures with that detail and higher textures are simply way more demanding.
The Last of Us Part 1 uses an updated version from the engine of Part II. Its not entirely the same.

If there is a quote out there stating that, I simply don't believe him. They have apparently vastly underestimated the complexity of the pc platform. Pc ports need a little more attention, something they've learned since horizon, but still haven't made the appropriate adjustments.
