He's not lying. Mine was done in about 10 minutes tops, didn't count but it was A LOT faster than launch.
EDIT: I mean, he might be lying since he doesn't own the game but still, maybe a troll who accidentaly was right kekw.
Why would I lie? It literally took ~6 or so minutes. Others have stated ~5 minutes as well.
Wife owns the game on her steam account, simply sharing my experience loading it up and testing it.
Kinda simple: they changed things regarding shaders (supposedly to make shader related things better) so the shaders have to be recompiled.
There are numerous reasons to do that. Usually (in other games) you might not really notice it.
But in TLOU
you do
Your GPU doesent speak C## and needs instructions that it can work with. When a game is changed in its state, it needs updated instructions.
Your CPU therefor needs to compile all the shaders again whenever a GPU driver change happend or something in the gamestate itself.
Wife has the game on her steam account, just reporting what I experienced after patching and launching it.
1.0.4 only 8 mins on my end / 1.0.3 ver was 20 min
