- post-game-patches require rebuilds
- post-graphics-driver-patches require rebuilds.
It DOES place it in a shader folder - I don't remember which - but you deliberately delete it to trigger a full rebuild.
You might want to confirm my assertion with others in the community.

ReBar disabled (just for TLOU)

TLOU: 20 minutes
LB: 4 minutes
Uncharted 4 also takes exactly 20 minutes on my hardware also, identical to TLOU.
just under 14 minutes(including left behind) with 5800X3D
AMD 5950X -> hitting 10 mins max for TLOU + Left Behind
AMD 5800X3D -> 15 mins max for both
I am currently testing the 5800X3D for gaming ( VR and simracing and some other games A).
This. If it's recompiling after a reboot then it's either just been patched or there's something wrong with your install or system.
FWIW I played it over the past few days on the latest patch and shader compilation took 5-10 minutes on my system with a 12700k and 3080 Ti. I don't know what it's reliant on, so it could be any number of things causing it to take longer for others. I didn't have any crashes and once I got the settings tweaked it was smooth sailing. I have way more issues with the end of the story than any technical problems 😔
For those who don't know (which seems to be the case from some of the comments), you can play the game while the shaders are compiling, but it will cause some stutters in gameplay and probably take longer overall.
As always, YMMV 🙂

8:40ish for the main game
10:14 for the DLC
Game still stutters & audio crackles, with frametimes spiking up to like 109ms, even when doing absolutely nothing or just being in the menu…
18min main game
+
3min left behind
= 21min total
R5 3600xt, 3070, 16gb 3200mhz.
12 minutes for both (10+2)
not much difference for me, 14 minutes total time
