LOW FPS SOLUTION AND THOUGHTS
Guys, I have just figured out what is really a problem in low fps. When i turned on the option that allows to see how many fps are on GPU and on CPU in HUD settings, the CPU's fps were capping GPU's. So its not all about the graphics but the not supported multi core CPUs. I have threadripper 19x which has 16 cores and it produces ~<40 FPS. Devs u MUST DO SOMETHING WITH IT CUZ ITS UNPLAYABLE

That's an old CPU now and not at all meant for gaming, especially in a 2023 title.

have you tried to lower the process affinity of the game to just 6 or 8 cores. high core cpu's are a bit wonky. they spread the load across cores and that leads to stalling cause they gotta sync the execution. if you limit that, it could eliminate alot of that. you still are limited by the low base and only 4 GHz turbo clock and the slower ipc on zen1, but could give you a boost.

what's complicated about it? just go into taskmanager>details with the processes. rightclick the tlou.exe and set affinity. uncheck cpus until you got 12 or 16 active. that's that.

still no guarantee it will imrove things on your end, but it's worth a shot. imo

okay. was worth the shot. i guess you have to deal with it (for now - or forever).

i mean... you got 44 hours playtime. just want a lil more fps? i get it. :)

threadripper is not the best gaming cpu unfortunately, tho. it does multhreaded nicely, but the ipc is still zen1 kinda old already. hmm

Did someone else try out and fill -dx11 into start options and started the game directly from the library and not via short cut ? Is it only on my system that the games runs smooth and without the "Please wait..."-screens. I've read that shader building only is on dx12 and so i tried it out with -dx11.

You can't force a game to run on DX11 which doesn't contain that API, it does nothing

Thank you for this post, it worked for me. I was only getting 22fps with graphics set to low and I'm running an i5-13500 and RTX 3060 ti. I knew something wasn't adding up. Set it to 4 cores and set priority to realtime, and bingo. It jumped to 150+ so I reset the graphics to high and am getting 75-80 fps now. I really appreciate the tip.

processor lasso if you chose to use it will automatic affinity for you
you can also always set - Program to High /Real Time when launched in processor lasso too

Set the affinity and priorty. helped slightly but game still has issues, using a 5600x + 32gb ram @ 3600mhz + 6800xt 16gb, play at 80-100 fps using triples during fight scenses ect but at times the fps drops to 30-40 and utlisation of gpu / cpu is less than 50%. annoyingly happens when theres nothing going on on the map i.e no gun fights or other characters, just stutters as if its still loading.
