PC gaming is a scam at this point
For reference I have a AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, RTX 3070, and 32 Gb of ram. Been gaming on PC for like the last 3-4 years.

I mainly got into pc gaming for a higher fps, and I generally like being snappier with mouse and keyboard, and it's pretty nice finding games for cheaper. However, what's becoming annoying with pc gaming is that like half my time trying to play a game I'm spending adjusting and compromising on settings to get a bit of a higher frame rate. Sometimes, especially with next gen titles, I end up settling for 60-70 fps at 1440p. But what annoys me about all of this is the amount of money I spent on a gaming pc only to have marginal improvements over a PS5. My GPU ALONE was more expensive than a PS5 and I can only play games in 4k at about 30fps (if I'm lucky). Even then it won't be locked to 30fps, it'll likely drop. I don't even bother with 4k with my current setup.

I tried playing elden ring with my current setup and had all kinds of stuttering issues. Now I'm playing TLOU pc after the big patch, and can barely get 60fps, not to mention all the graphical compromises I have to do to get that. Meanwhile the PS5 has unlocked framerate and runs like butter on a 4k monitor/tv. Even with future patches that NG is gonna do for this game I don't think it'll get me anywhere close to the performance I can get with a ps5 hooked up to a nice 4k oled tv.

I should've known pc gaming was a scam by how hard they have to insert themselves into a console war and have to self-promote themselves as a "master". But they say very little of the kind of ridiculous money they have to spend just to be a little better and get comparable performance to a PS5. PC gaming is just a scam, and makers of pc parts know it, that's why they overcharge pc gamers. With that said, I'm tired of the tlou dropping below 60fps @1440p for me on my setup, I think imma just get the ps5 version and chill on the couch in peace.

P.S. if your post contains "I have a 40XX series card..." don't even waste your breath with me lol

Consoles are sold at a loss (even though they become profitable halfway through their lifecycle) hoping you buy as many games and accessories as possible at a premium price, also you can mod PC games and tweak a lot of stuff, not to mention your CPU and GPU can be used to do much more than just gaming.

PC gaming has been an elaborate scam since the GPU shortage. We are the cows for the PC parts manufacturers *ahem* GPU makers, and recently also the game publishers to milk. But hey, don't lose hope. There are still *some* good games out there. If you're gonna have a PS5, go for it!

DO 👏 NOT 👏 USE 👏 THIS 👏 BAD 👏 PORT 👏 AS 👏 A 👏 METRIC.

Plenty of multiplat releases work in PC as good if not better than in console. If they're done well. This game is not a good port and doesn't utilize the platform properly.

PC gaming is more complex and a trickier hobby for sure. You can absolutely get better results if you put the time and research into it, but more often than not it requires more than buying ♥♥♥♥ and expecting everything to work perfectly first time. It's a matter of tradeoffs.

No one forced you to buy 8 gb GPU, you could have bought much faster AMD card with more RAM at the same cost or even less (when I've bought 6900xt it was roughly the same price as 3070 (~ 700 bucks)). It was obvious that VRAM requirements will go up to console RAM size very quickly as soon as new gen exclusives will start to release

I'm good, no more pc scam for me.

If you prefer not to adjust setting you can use GeForce Experience to automatically adjust your settings based on your hardware for each specific game.

The PC version of The Last of Us Part I running horrible is the game's fault. At worst case scenario, you should at very least be getting equivalent to the PS5 version.

Yes, PC hardware prices are still bad compared to consoles. That's why we have to tell these companies we are not going to pay such prices and not just surrender. Because this is not how it was, and it's not what it's supposed to be.

Your frustrations with this game will be short lived. And when you are done with this game, then most other games will run better on your PC than they do on PS5, and won't cost $70 each.

Furthermore, consoles do not show you the settings or the actual FPS, like the case on PC. So, they create an illusion they run better than they actually do.

I have both the PS5 and a gaming PC with an RTX 4090 and I must say this is a trash post. The PS5 is a good device if you want to game on a budget but its a far cry from what the PC experience offers.

Firstly, the PS5 does not run 4k 60 FPS. It runs most games at 1440p upscaled to 4k which is a huge difference. Some games are even upscaled from 1080p, Also you are entirely tied in to what the developers want you to experience. Plague Tale Requiem runs at 30 FPS on PS5 with no 60 FPS option which is vomit inducing. Older games like RDR 2 and Arkham Trilogy are locked to 30 FPS with no 60 FPS patch in sight and even when it releases it will be a paid DLC.

VRR support on the PS5 is utter ♥♥♥♥. It only runs on an HDMI 2.1 display and only above 48 FPS. Elden Ring you speak off runs awful on the PS5 because its constantly below 60 FPS and it drops into the low forties and with no VRR support its judder city.

There is no DLSS support and based on my experience with the PS5, the checkerboard and TAA upscaling is far inferior to PC. You can run games like Cyberpunk, Dying Light 2 with ray tracing on the 3070 which is impossible on the PS5.

Modding support on PC adds to the life of a game and adds infinite replayablity at the same price. Sometimes modders even fix things, developers will never do. Games like Cyberpunk, Fallout, Skyrim, are entirely different games on PC due to mod support.

Just recently a modder released DLSS mod for Elden Ring which boosts performance by 40-50% and DLSS 3 support is in the works. Something like this wouldnt be possible on PS5. There is also no ultrawide support nor any support for 175HZ displays

Mouse and keyboard is far superior to controller if you want any sort of challenge while gaming. PS5 has aim assist which just isnt as fun to play with.

Lastly, the PS5 is a gaming device. It cannot do anything apart from games. With a PC you can do far more than just game.

Marginal improvements my ass? The PC experience has always been at a premium but the amount of benefits and freedom which it gives is unparalled. I could never use my PS5 as a full time gaming device.

This game is running awful because it was released to cash in on the HBO show. Be patient and get it on sale 6-7 months later for half price. It would be fixed by then and the experience would be in an entirely different league compared to PS5

The only problem with PC gaming is half baked ports like these. For your information, I bought this game and still refunded it because even on my 4090 the experience was subpar. I generally wait 6-7 months after any PC release for fixes. I used to make an exception for Sony titles but not anymore.

Where is this insinuation coming from that PC hardware prices are bad compared to PS5? You could get a 3080 for $500 which blows away a PS5 in performance.

Yes the whole computer is more expensive than a PS5 but you are comparing apples and oranges here. One if a full blown computer. One is a locked down device which can only be used for 1 purpose. As I explained in another post here, PCs do far more than game.

Incorrect. Vast majority of the PC market is on 8gb and lower GPUs. If developers want to port to PC they have to keep this in mind or suffer terrible sales. This game is an outlier and its showing even in terms of sales. 9K players in launch week and the game has dropped off the top 30 Steam sellers.

8Gb is far from dead.

Funny thing is this guy tries to make an example out of Elden Ring stuttering on PC but what he doesn't know is that on PS5, the game is constantly below 60 FPS and doesnt even support VRR below 48 FPS which the game frequently dips to.

I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm personally very happy as Elden Ring on my PC that is weaker than your runs perfectly and better than on consoles. Perfect 60fps with no stutters and with free online.

Same here, it's funny to see those people buying 8GB cards just for fancy RTX, only to see no handling high VRAM demanding games and not getting supported with DLSS 3.0 .
