ND wanted us to have "a world-class player experience with mouse and keyboard"
https://www.naughtydog.com/blog/celebrating_the_release_of_the_last_of_us_part_i_on_pc
Not for me. I'm so bad that when I played with my flat mates on PS4 when it was first released I could only do puzzles (as basic as they are) and walking stuff and was the best at sneaking & merc'ing peeps from behind. I could do bow and arrow later on if I had sneaked well and had enough time to do the left-a-bit, right-a-bit dance with the thumb stick. Honestly, I am god awful with a controller!
It's mostly a matter of personal preference. If you are sitting on the couch and are a causal gamer, then it makes sense to use a controller for shooter games.
Personally, I couldn't imaging playing a game that actually snaps to the target for me and assists me with aiming. It just seems to me that if the game has to do that for you, then there are problems with the combat system. So it's mouse and gameboard all the way for me.
As a side note, many people are saying they don't like the mouse due to mouse stuttering (or any stuttering really) issues of some kind. The reason you are getting that is, because your PC, GPU and game configurations/settings are not optimal. The aiming is smooth and accurate.
Works great for me either way too. I gotta go with the majority of playing this game with a controller though. It feels weird to play it on mouse and keyboard. Like playing GTAV and switching between both or something. I suppose part of it is that I actually bought and played it on PS3 when it came out too.
Ya if you got mouse chop, it's either texture micro caching or something is wonky with your vsync settings. Honestly I haven't experienced mouse chop in game since I got a GSYNC monitor 2 years back. Most of my experience with anything chop related like that over the last 25 years is due to vsync.
But now i have any problems with M+K and it´s works fine. And it is way more fun.
In short, the game is more interesting when you limit yourself to using a controller, and I say this as a skilled mouse + keyboard user.
