New Update broke my game? [SOLVED]
using a 3060
16GB ram

game ran perfectly fine before the update now its saying I don't have enough ram to play and it said my driver was out of date. After installing the new NVIDIA hot fix it still says its out of date

EDIT: Figured out my issue. The new update for TLOU caused my video drivers to crash and quit working properly, even though I had already installed new drivers to fix the problem I did not use DDU. soon after I had issues not only with TLOU but all my games. I decided to use DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller) to do a complete wipe and a fresh reinstall of my drivers and so far it seems to have fixed my issue with running the game and other games. Thanks Everyone who helped out and hopefully this will help others with the same issue

Verify the game files and if that doesn't work redownload the game..
Please stop giving useless advice, my RTX 3060 Laptop GPU 6GB VRAM, 16 GB RAM is experiencing the exact same issue, before that I can run the game but still crashes, now I can’t even get into the loading screen and it just crashed, I had to re-download the whole ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game 2 TIMES just to get it running again and IT STILL CRASHED DURING GAMEPLAY, they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up the patch, that’s all.

Your local game files are corrupted. Your problems are not MY problem. It's kind of strange that all the people in this forum that act like you do all have the avatar and they all act like creeps.

submit a support ticket. I'm no longer going to put up with this type of behavior.

How are his local game files corrupted if he redownloaded the entire game not once but twice?

I'm in the process of redownloading the game too, After today's patch I get nothing but CTD.

Things I've tried today since the patch installed :
• Verified game files
• deleted local save games
• Install the hotfix driver even though my 2080ti wasn't affected previously.
• delete shader cache files and recompiled them.
• Start a new game.
• moved game to a different SSD..

Nothing works at all, Honestly I had no problems with this game until yesterday's patch so I can only conclude that the patch is responsible for the crashes that have come as a result of this patch.

It'd be nice if steam offered the ability to roll back a patch because this game right now just is unplayable for many of us.

Every time a game crashes you run the risk of your game files corrupting. This risk is much higher if a person is overclocking their CPU. An overclocked CPU can return bad data.
I have a question for you? Have you ran memtest on your memory?

https://www.memtest86.com/index.html

Publicado originalmente por ememtest86:
Sometimes memory errors show up due to component incompatibility. A memory module may work fine in one system and not in another. This is not uncommon and is a source of confusion. In these situations the components are not necessarily bad but have marginal conditions that when combined with other components will cause errors.

Often the memory works in a different system or the vendor insists that it is good. In these cases the memory is not necessarily bad but is not able to operate reliably at full speed. Sometimes more conservative memory timings on the motherboard will correct these errors. In other cases the only option is to replace the memory with better quality, higher speed memory. Don't buy cheap memory and expect it to work reliably. On occasion "block move" test errors will occur even with name brand memory and a quality motherboard. These errors are legitimate and should be corrected.

All valid memory errors should be corrected. It is possible that a particular error will never show up in normal operation. However, operating with marginal memory is risky and can result in data loss and even disk corruption. Even if there is no overt indication of problems you cannot assume that your system is unaffected. Sometimes intermittent errors can cause problems that do not show up for a long time. You can be sure that Murphy will get you if you know about a memory error and ignore it.

I was getting 50-60fps on medium/high last night, played for 4 hours without issue now I am struggling to get 30fps at any setting. The CPU useage is lower but I'm not getting a good frame rate. I'd rather it just use 100% CPU

CPU: i7 10870H
Motherboard: I don't know, it's a laptop (MSI Creator 15)
RAM(Amount of system memory): 64GB
Video card: Laptop RTX3070 100watt
Driver for video card: 531.58
System drive: NVME
Game drive if separate from system drive: NVME

and ARE you using the latest hotfix nvidia driver 531.58: yes

EDIT: I restarted my game and now it's working like it was last night again, and CPU usage is back to 100% I dunno... weird

Did you let the game rebuild the shaders? Did you verify the game files?

Yes I did, but it started building shader at 98%, so I thought maybe it was a bug, restarted the game and now it's working so I dunno...

You need to write to Sony to send you a free computer running the game. Given all their promises and loud statements, they most likely provided for this option but forgot to write in the description of the game 🤣

Memory is fine.

Let me reiterate..

Before this patch I had no crashes, cpu is not overclocked ( I run base core frequency and only allow turbo to kick in as its supposed to ) and Memory is fine and has been stressed for 24h on prime95.

It's only been since this patch that issues have arose.

I've been gaming on pc for quite some time, If the game doesn't work after a redownload then it's clearly the newest patch as all other avenues to fix it will have been explored.

Prime95 does not test your memory for problems like memtest does, so that mean anything. https://www.memtest86.com/index.html

Unreliable RAM can cause a multitude of problems. Corrupted data, crashes and unexplained behaviour.

You didn't say if you followed the DDU method when you installed the hotfix driver.

Get the latest version of DDU from:

if you need to redownload the hotfix get it here

AFTER you have reinstalled the video card drivers

and after you have redownloaded the game and you still have problems

Michael I appreciate your trying to help, but yes prime95 for 24h and memtest for a total of 16 before I killed the benchmark due to needing to use the pc.

I always DDU between driver installs too.

Face it bud, it's the patch.

If it was any of my components or drivers or configurations, the crashes would have persisted when the game initially launched.

I also have around 40 hours in the game so far, 39 of those being a crash free experience prior to the new patch.

I'm not sure if it's this patch , or a combination of the patch with the game and the software you have running in the background. seriously the only way the game will be fixed is if you click the naughtydog link I've already posted so they can go through the dump files to find the conflict. It will not get fixed until you report the problem to them. I personally will not touch the game until the mouse problem is fixed.
