I think 30 FPS actually feels more cinematic
When I first started playing this I was kinda bummed my PC couldn't hit 60 FPS. The further I progressed through the story though, the more engrossed I felt. More so than any other singleplayer experience. I think it was partly because 30 FPS is closer to 25 FPS which is what our brains perceive as cinematic when watching film. I decided to cap my framerate at 25 just to keep things consistent and lo and behold, my experience playing became far more immersive.

The reason nobody talks about this is because companies need to sell you on 60 FPS to keep making money. The fact of the matter is 25 FPS for story driven games is beneficial in some ways, and if you add the Letterbox filter to the game through Nvidia Freestyle it's like you're watching a TV show. I sometimes wonder if this is what Naughty Dog intended, as you also see the motion blur far easier with lower frames.

If you don't believe me, try it out yourself.

You leave film grain and motion blur on, don't you.

40 FPS on a 120Hz screen is the better option. Smooth yet still retain that cinematic feel.

But 25 FPS you exagerate, gameplay wise it going to be ultra ♥♥♥♥, 30 FPS already looks like a PowerPoint slides on an OLED TV, I do not recommend anyone to do that ...

I prefer a frame rate equal to (or greater, though I'm not sure how much is just me and how much is actual objective performance) my screen refresh rate.

That being said, I have in the past when I was overdue an upgrade tried capping games that I really wanted to up the graphics settings on but couldn't at 60fps, to 30 fps. Did it in Days Gone on a 970 so I could try those sweet, sweet ultra settings without frames dropping in the middle of a firefight. And it's perfectly playable. Maybe wouldn't want to do it in a dedicated twitch shooter, but in a game like this it works pretty well. Not good, not terrible, I even tried it.

Bottom line, you shouldn't have to do it on a game like this which hardly breaks any records, visually, but I'll always prefer a stable 30fps to a stuttery 60fps.

Haha, this was how Sony told you 30 fps is enough.

24 fps was just technical/cost limits in filming light years ago. It is true that ppl may feel less frames will not be so busy in their brain and enhance the imagination. This is acceptable in seeing movie while you are just passive.

However, for gaming, you are more active not passive. The jitter during movement (caused by your brain's expectation) will be very painful.

If you want actually correct cinematic feeling, Sable is here for you with 24FPS lock so animations on twos will supposedly look correct in a video game with arbitrary user input.

Hehehe, ppl trying to convince themselves that 30 fps is good and has cinematic feeling never gets old.

Some animated movies run at 12fps.

Also there were a few movies that were shown at 48fps or high frame rate mode such as Peter Jackson's Hobbit movies in select theaters of course.

30 fps has too much input lag and feels sluggish

why buy expensive graphic cards when you can just have great cinematic experience with integrated GPU lmao

You can enable 21:9 aspect ratio from settings for increased peripheral vision and get black bars top and bottom for same effect.
