Forgetting for a second about how different the actress looks. It's also the way she acts, never shows emotion, seemingly in control of Joel at all times, it takes away the theme of fatherhood which is central to the game's story and makes it unbelievable when he eventually opens up to her emotionally because frankly, she is annoying in the show.

having watched the show first the main thing I dislike about the game Ellie is that she clearly sounds like an adult (who was close to 30 and not a teenager) which kind of breaks the realism of having her be a tough, salty, funny etc teenager. I guess since the 2nd part takes place later they had to try and make it work but after seeing her performance in the show with the age spot on that part in the game is a let down. It possibly not be an issue if I had done it in reverse order but I can see how people who played the game first are disappointed as games usually have way more content and shows or movies always fall short in some or large capacity.

Also games are not going to give their characters radioface so remember the characters you see are usually enhanced or fake all together so who ever does the voice acting anyhow couldn't meet your standards in a live action performance. Games and shows are not porn afterall even if they lean into it.

It doesn't matter the appearance, Bella face aside. The Ellie from the show is like a annoying little psycho who is always asking for guns, bad attitude, wants to steal food from a old couple, insults other children who look at her, is cocky, etc. Is just an awful character and doesn't fit the rol, the rol is to be something different than Joel, the other extreme to bring back hope to him about having a daughter, not the same or worse than Joel.

That's fair. Bella Ramsey's portrayal was a lot more approachable and realistic. She is such a charismatic actor. I revise my statement and give the edge to Show Ellie.
