but the reason behind the bsod is not the heat. i did a test where i removed the power limits and let it overheat - could play for an hour at 95-100 degrees! of course, it sometimes throttles down to 4.6 Ghz (which is also fine) but it doesn't bsod
the only time when it crashes like this is when i have the power limits and there is the option to "sync all cores" (ie. equal frequency). i suspect it's something related to my TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS D4 mb but I won't go that far as updating the bios, I bet such a bug was not even detected.
OP limited the CPU but synced all cores. Depending on how they set the clock speed. They may have gone beyond the threshold of the CPU cores.
Those settings are found in the motherboard's BIOS. Or you can use Intel tuning software.
However, the game when running will not draw that much power at all. Only in the beginning when compiling shaders.
This is also a specific issue to OP it seems, and you most likely will not encounter it. As well as other issues that could have been the cause of the BSOD. So I wouldnt worry about it.
If you have to ask on how to do this. Dont. Only if you are familiar with BIOS settings and manually setting CPU. It shouldnt be done as it can cause more issues for you.
But, I will say. Since motherboard manufacturers love increase CPU's beyond their limits and push way too much power to CPU. It is always good to select the option to Enforce All CPU limits. This way the CPU runs at the default base/boost speeds, and will throttle normally to prevent issues. Auto should be fine too.
