Systematic crash over University
Right before entering the second unpowered door with the horse, game crashes. I did install the fix provided by NVIDIA 2 days ago, but it didn't fix my crash. It is not random, it always happens before I enter some kind of tunnel (after seing the monkeys).

If it happens all the time do a cache check to check the game files, sounds like a missing or corrupt file.
Valenwe Apr 6, 2023 @ 2:03am
After complete verification, no file missing / corrupted :(

Hmm i had this exact kind of issue in another game, turned out there was a corrupted file on the ssd. Run chkdsk on the partition the game is installed.

Thanks! I'll try :)

Nope, even after chkdsk... If I go over the Windows Event Log, I found some data related to the crash:

This suggests that the issue might very well be caused by a corrupted Visual C++ Redist installation. This procedure is confirmed to be ...

Try to reinstall the library.

c0000005 is an access violation error. It means the game is looking for something where it should not.

First guess is that you ran out of memory.

How much RAM and VRAM do you have?

What graphics settings are you playing on? Low? Medium? High? Ultra?
BillyZane876 Apr 6, 2023 @ 4:03am
do you have an older savegame? not the checkpoint you are loading when it crashes
maybe you have a rare bug which is tied to the state of that checkpoint

According to dxdiag output, I have 28Go of RAM, and 12Go of VRAM from my RTX 3060. I think it should be enough.

I can try to use an old save, but it would take me some time to get back to my current progression of the game :/

verify game cache

Have a crash at university also, when you meet monkeys soon after getting the flamethower.
Didn't have any bug so far but it constantly crashes at this place. 3 times in a row already.

AMD 5950x
128GB ram
RTX 4080

Edit : 5th crash. It happens everytime. If I go down the stairs quickly I can continue the game but if I go back on those stairs and face the fountain it instantly crashs every time

Okay somehow it works now.
What I tried and didn't solve the issue:
- Install NVIDIA fix driver
- Verify game cache
- Reinstall shaders
- chkdsk my disks

What fixed it was going into the chapter list, and redoing it all from the beginning of the chapter. Changed my graphic settings to the lowest. I also fired some rounds and crafted random stuff so that I wasn't full of anything in the inventory (in case the bug was from spawning resources when I already am full of it). Then it was okay...

I don't know what really solved it from all my actions, but if someone gets the same crash, try this method.

To anybody else who finds this thread after crashing over and over when seeing monkies at the university, immediately turn around and go backwards down the stairs toward the fountain. Avoid looking directly at the fountain. I was able to progress by doing this

Same issue. 3 or 4 crashes in a row.

7950X3D
64GB DDR5 6000
4090
latest nVidia & AMD drivers
game version is 1.0.5.0

No solution so far.

Set a Windows Page File to use a minimum value of 16x1024Mb and a maximum value of 24x1024Mb.

As another user pointed out, you had a memory access error, which usually means the game or app is trying to find an asset, file or resource that was loaded onto the RAM/page file but was removed to make room for another file.

The game can still make due with some better memory management. But you should also make sure that you have an appropriate page file set. In most instances, 3 to 8GB is fine (Windows will often default with 3 to 7GB page file) but when memory calls are more frequent, sometimes you need an extra level of page file to just help make sure nothing gets culled from cache and memory.
