Incredibly slow loading time!
Somehow, PS5 version's loading time was significantly faster than PC version (roughly 4-5 seconds average) whereas PC version can take more than 30 seconds to load the game which was not normal at all. When will they fix the loading time?

It's because no PC can do what Kraken does on PS5, ie assets decompression at 9,9 Gb/s from a 5,5 Gb/s SSD 🤡

Meanwhile on PC (19.5 Gb/s from a 7Gb/s SSD) 🙄 :

Actually the decompression on the PC is done by the CPU using generic code and that's just part of the problems with this PORT.

I'm about 5 hours playtime in, and this is my first but only minor issue.

I've been stuck loading my save game the circle is about half way after 5 minutes.

I was referencing to what can be done on PC with DirectStorage 1.1 and RTXIO with the GPU, but indeed, they chose to use a weird software one instead.

It takes longer than just about every other game I own to load, but not enough that it bothers me all that much. I wonder WHY, to be sure, but it's not like the shader compilation time which is comedy gold, if it weren't so tragic.

Load times are why I'm waiting on patches. They are Way too long.
MishaTX Apr 7, 2023 @ 2:28am
They ARE too long, not disagreeing, but they're not crippling. The rest of the performance issues are.

I just got the game yesterday with the purchase of a GPU, can’t comment on previous versions of the game, but in it’s current state it’s taking 2-3 minutes(sometimes longer) on a PCIE Gen 4 SSD (5800x3d/6700xt/64GB 3200Mhz CL16). Somehow it loads much faster on my Steam Deck, when installed on a Micro SD card. I don’t even understand how that is possible. Other than that, the game seems to be decent enough despite how much CPU and VRAM are needed.

Yeah this is the only big issue im facing now after they fixed the mouse jittery camera. Reloading a save is just painful, it takes 2/3 minutes.
cafepwrd Apr 12, 2023 @ 1:34pm
load times in the new patch still take forever.

Mine loaded after 10-15 minutes everytime (i5-9400F RX6700XT 16GB DDR4 3200mhz NVME M.2 SSD)

My brother's laptop takes less than 1 minute to load (ryzen 9 5900HX RTX 3060 16GB DDR4 high-performance SSD)

I think it is something to do with less threads, there is no talk online of hexa core without hyperthreading performance on this title

I'm loading a game now and it's been over 3 minutes. I have a 10850k overclocked, 4090 and 64gb DDR4 ram CL 18 3600. This is ridiculous.

I'm also loading in for 6 minutes already and i have a 7800X3D, 7900XTX, 6400mhz DDR5 ram and a samsung 870 M.2 . This is crazy. Its only using 15% of my CPU.

Loading a manual save after force quitting and checking integrity of files worked for me. It now loads in under 10 seconds.

Guys, I played The Last of Us part 1 Remastered (the PS4 version) on the PS4 last summer. Initial load times are the longest, somewhere around 25 seconds. Then all the reloads from deaths are around 3-4 seconds. That is on a HDD running @ 7200rpm. Not even the original one cause I upgraded it. This is a simple PS4, not slim nor pro. I am currently playing TLOU Part 2 on the PS5. It's the PS4 version of the game, so loading times are not necesarly better. Still initial load time takes about 30 seconds, then around 2-3 seconds at any death. Now, I "found" TLOU Part 1 Remake (whatever the PC port) as I was curious how it runs on my PC as everyone said the port is kind of bad. For now I only did the DLC for about an hour (I waited 6 minutes on the initial load) and I get around 54 FPS on medium-ish. I can do High settings, but I only drop to 45 FPS and then the 1% lows are ranging from 10 to 25, so it's annoying. What I did notice is that the game isn't running that bad, again, on recommended for my case I do keep around 60 FPS most of the time, but I think the game works this poorly mostly because it's struggling to read of the HDD or SSD efficiently. Every time I get into a new area, it lags, then frames drop. This is common on PC games, because level streaming is done differently than on a console port. On the PS4 or PS5 I never got a frame drop. At least you can't see any, Most likely, the game would perform better if it can read of the storage more efficient. Also the CPU is being used a lot in this game. Never seen it go 99% so much as in this. Gotta do more benchmarks.

In case you're curious my PC specs are:
AMD Ryzen 2700X
Nvidia GTX 1070 8GB RAM
32 GB RAM @ 3200 MHz
