Who owns PC?
Yeah that’s a good point….but…….technically companies like Nvidia and AMD can try to have their own studios to produce games. Or even why not Valve. I think they are all big enough to produce their own exclusives on pc. No?
Look at a game like Half Life Alex (pc exclusive but it’s an isolated example). Great vr game. Still a pc exclusive (PlayStation fans want it on vr). Why can’t there be pc exclusives that console players desire to have. I mean there are console titles that as a pc player I look forward to trying out (luckily I have a switch as well and a few Sony titles have come to pc) but….I don’t think that any console player out there would ever say…..wow, have you heard of that pc game….I wish it were on console!!!
Bottom line...$$$$
Your comment is not correct since I can point to many decent/quality console games that have never made it to the pc platform.
Lol. And yet, there are still plenty of console games that haven’t made it to pc.
Are you saying that there’s more $$$ to be made on making games for consoles only. Then you are making my point that it is more desirable for companies to produce games on consoles.
They earn already enough money with Steam.
So basically they are just doing passion projects, like that VR-exclusive Alyx, which I'll possibly never play as I do not like VR.
This is the 20's, when everything is an x86 and any engine worth using should really have an "export to [insert platform here]" button as well as automatic scaling for any resolution the user decides to use.
The only reason exclusives still exist is because the owner of the platform pays for them to tempt people into buying their platform. Which is a crappy-ass reason.
Maybe the question shouldn't be "why doesn't PC have exclusives" (it does btw) and should instead be "why do we put up with everyone else having them"
