Hotel crashing

I've been able to play the game just fine until I reached the Hotel. Had it crash 5 times with 3 of them in the basement consecutively. Anyone else make it to this point and can't progress?

a workaround is to launch in safe mode, go through the checkpoint, save then change settings back
