It's your PC if you're crashing or getting low performance.
Honestly this game runs really well, if you're having issues you need to upgrade or figure out why your system isn't stable. Lower your settings, lower your overclock or set defaults because you're not stable, or upgrade. It's on your side.

13700K + 4090, zero problems with other games. But TLoU is crashing at the main menu every single time. The game is broken.

Ah yes, the ole "I don't get this so it doesn't exist". Imma happy for you, putting those extra chromosomes to good use.

Lol....32% positive reviews so it must be the majority who is bad or doing wrong.

Then you're not stable. The game is hammering the CPU while it compiles shaders. Your memory or CPU is not stable. A stable system won't crashing doing this. You likely have unstable memory OC, XMP, or CPU OC or undervolt that ain't stable. Set to defaults and try again. No XMP.

Wow Sherlock did you come up with this rubbish your self?
Fact every other game I play work, games like RE4 & Icarus.
Sons of the forest had the same issues until they patched them out so itsd not my rig or anyone else's rig its just poor coding and optimization of the game.

I even see people with high end rigs including a 4090 having the same issues.

Neither my laptop nor my desktop have crashed a single time in 10 hours of game play. The game isn't having issues, peoples unstable rigs are. Welcome to finding out you didn't test for stability when you overclocked.

Its not everyone's PC its the game and its very obvious.

worked for me, no crash in main menu, shader compiled once and never have to worry again, and i'm on 3080.

i use safe mode settings which disables DLSS and use high preset, able to play 6-7 hours and continue playing

Gotta love the kind of ops who blatantly ignore that the majority is having issues and make a fool of themselves on public forums.

Half these rookies complaining didn't let it compile the shaders. They skipped right into the game and then came here to whine.

I haven't had a single crash in months while gaming, working and benchmarking on my PC, so it's definitely a TLoU problem, not my rig or undervolt settings. Also read the reviews - the problem is common.

Yes, but the problem is that it shouldn't. They are different contexts, which makes your answer also out of context. It is not understandable that today a game compiles shaders becoming a prime95 simulator or renders 2000 fps while we decide whether or not we want subtitles. It is lack of work. Lack of courtesy towards the client (or lack of experience). Failing to recognize this is intellectual dishonesty. You have to think about the real world, not about our technical knowledge.

The sheer number of affected users indicates that there is something wrong. It‘s not the usual odd system having trouble, it‘s widespread. Comments like the OP‘s are far from helpful. Responsibility for fixing the issue is not to be put on the user but on the publisher.
