I had this problem before too.. Turns out, my save game was corrupted. To fix this, you need to disable cloud storage in Steam, then delete your local storage on your PC.

Disable Cloud Storage: Go to steam > Right click Last of Us > Click Properties > General > Uncheck the "Keep game saves in the Steam Cloud for The Last of Us Part |"

Delete Local Storage: Go to File Explorer (The folder icon on your Taskbar) > Click Local Disk > Click Users > Click [Your PC name] > Click Saved Games > Click The Last of Us Part | > Click Users > Delete that (Should be all random numbers).

Note: Your games progress will be deleted.. I recommend backing it up first just in case this wasn't the issue!

Got the same issue

Same issue. You get the coin with people's names on it and then the game crashes to desktop on every launch. Fully up to date R9 7900x / RTX 3090 rig.

Lucky you, doesnt even spawn a window for me

Oh just fixed it. Restarted my computer and my 2nd GPU somehow was disabled. Figured I would try launching and it started and went past the coin.

1050TI and 2070

Been playing for the past 45 mins without an issue. 4k @ a locked 58 FPS

Only steps I did was lauch game with my lower end GPU disabled in Device Manager.
Close game
Re-Enable GPU to bring back both screens
Relaunch game
....
Profit

Restarted my PC and it still won't boot, now I don't even get the Coin screen.

Still not launching, this is great.

I'm a ~15 year veteran of Steam and the fix was simply verifying game files... I feel stupid.

Verifying files didn't work for me, but the game trying to read save games from a drive that didn't exist...

Don't be , sometimes even moving a game to another drive cause somes files to "break".
