How to turn on DualSense haptics?
I've got a DualSense controller plugged in, but I'm unable to turn these features on. It just says "Only available when a DualSense wireless controller is plugged in." Is there something I need to do to the controller to register properly? I normally just stick to mouse and keyboard on PC.

Mine just works plugging it in, I have access to all the haptics options and its working. I have it plugged into a USB-C port. You might try plugging it in and then searching windows settings for usb controller. Also go into steam settings and look around the controller options, make sure it indicates you have a PS5 controller, then check that rumble is turned on.

Right click the game in Steam, go to Properties and then Controller, 'Disable Steam Input'

You should be able to turn on DualSense Haptics after.

Also, if you have any sort of program, like DSX, make sure you close that and run the game as it is. The haptics will work afterwards as stated by Dean.

Want to add to this discussion since I encountered this issue and couldn't resolve it.

You may also need to use a USB C > C cable to enable dualsense haptics. i did all of the above to no avail, because I was using a USB C > A cable to connect it to my desktop.

BTW you can mark discussion answers so others can find the answers faster. But I also want to add to this: A few games require the Dualsense to be "turned on" in the sound settings in Windows. I know, it's weird, but I had turned off the speaker and microphone on windows before and it broke the haptics and triggers in a couple games, so if you have that issue with other games, put that in your list of tries as well.

I have always used a USB A to C USB cable (from an Xbox controller funny enough) to connect to my PC, and it's always worked. My guess is your old A to C cable was just bad. USB A and C are just connectors, otherwise they are literally wired the same.
