It's called TLOU2
it is worse of course..
if you care about the story
They beat the hell out of Bioware recent offerings.
Resi 4 was basically the start of the entire franchises downfall into garbage action "horror" games which got progressively worse with each entry and basically destroyed the survival horror elements the franchise was built on and became known for.
Last of Us 1 is a vastly better survival horror game than Resi 4 imo and a better action horror game too, though much of that credit comes from it being a much newer game naturally.
But you also have to factor in how much of a technical marvel this game was on the original hardware it was built for when it first released.
Nothing on the 360 could come close to the level of detail this game showed the Ps3 was capable of back then when games really took advantage of the hardware on offer.
And you have to keep in mind that for many years PS3 owners had gotten brushed aside by many developers, especially multiplatform ones as the Ps3 was well known for having many bad/shoddy port jobs in it's time despite it's superior albeit very hard to work with hardware.. which was ultimately the problem and the reason many developers didn't like working with it.
So when a game like TLOU came along, really brought out the potential in that system's hardware and blew everything in it's generation out of the water by a lot, it's was only natural that people were going to latch on to it and sing it's praises endlessly.
Never played TLoU, but I sadly have to agree with you about RE 4. Played it last year for the first time, and it was mediocre at best. The gameplay and mechanics are just horrendous. With all the QTEs, the ugly brownish color palette, and slow, clunky third person shooting, that game popularized so many terrible trends.
