Last of Us Part 1 is good but Don't play Part 2
Spoiler Alert!
(Also, I played on Playstation 5 and both games played like butter with great graphics)

I loved Last of Us 1, but Last of Us 2 was very interesting to play and not in a positive way. I was seriously enjoying the story about Joel's death and Ellie trying to avenge his death, and Ellie's romance on the side. It could have been one of the best games ever.
Unfortunately, towards the end, I was forced to play as Abby. I really liked Joel as a character, and when Abby killed him, I, of course, developed a serious dislike for Abby. Furthermore, Abby is just a pissed-off, unlikable character in general. Thus, I really didn't want to play as Abby and found myself just letting zombies kill me because I wanted to return to playing as Ellie, and it was more enjoyable to watch her die than to try to help her survive.
I tried to play it out as Abby, hoping it would return to Ellie at any moment, but hours went by, and it still made me play as Abby until eventually I just said, "Screw it. I'm not enjoying this game at all, and I stopped playing altogether. I've played almost every rpg there is, and there is only one other game I have stopped playing halfway through. Thus, Last of Us 2 is one of the only games I rate as a 0 out of 10 since it was so unenjoyable that I didn't even finish it. The lesson here is NEVER FORCE THE PLAYER TO PLAY AS AN UNLIKABLE ANTAGONSIST, PLEASE.
After, being so disappointed with Part 2, I don't recommend either of these games.

TLOU2's story is error-strewn and completely illogical. Whilst the revenge premise is a perfectly good angle to explore and how Joel deserved to die for his actions in some people's eyes, the way it is told is absolutely catastrophic and of a standard not even a middle school teenager would concoct.

Ellie is basically seeking revenge and she doesn't ask why at all through the entire game. She killed 100 men, women and animals, yet she never asks Abby on 3 occasions as to why she killed Joel and why her life was spared. You would've thought Abby would've asked Ellie at least once why she was coming after her after being spared or had justified her actions.

It is easily one of the most calamitous pieces of writing ever seen in any form of entertainment media. The amount of flashbacks and character changes just gets exhausting and by the end, I ended up hating everyone and being in a worse position than square one. They done Ellie so dirty through unrealistic and atrocious writing because the plot was hanging on by a thread the whole time and they couldn't find an out. All they had to do was make aware of why Joel was killed and then a choice in whether to seek revenge anyway as part of the barbaric way he was executed. Isn't hard yet the writers could've even find that alternative standpoint.

It's such a shame because the game is one of the most technically impressive I have ever seen with some staggering visuals, detail and animations. The writers made a complete mess of this so much so, even the TV series may get a total overhaul. Abby was a decent character and her portion of the game was probably the better but the way it was clubbed together was a mess.

Never let Anita Sarkeesian influence a game ever again because the end result is a whacky, illogical travesty.

TLOU Part 2 is MUCH better than TLOU Part 1. Stop spilling this utter nonsense.

If this is what you believe, you and I are very different peeps. I thought part 1 was great, and part 2 I lost all interest in even finishing, and the fact that I enjoyed part 1 so much made it more of a fall. We couldn't be more different, but that doesn't mean my opinion is nonsense. Try to be better please

The gameplay/combat is a little more evolved (and better IMO). I think a lot of people can’t get past what happens to one of the main characters from TLOU P1, and then also taking control of the person who caused the incident to said main character from Part 1. That combined with Ellie and Dina’s relationship plus a trans character you meet along the way. To be fair to most people who played the game, I think it’s 85-90% that don’t like the game is because of the former. It’s just that the ones who take issue with latter are particularly loud and in their feelings about it. These are the same types of people that now refuse to shop at Target or play Horizon games.

I encourage people to play and I think they will, after all …who passes on playing a game they might be interested in because of the say so of a stranger on the internet? I don’t trust another person’s opinion enough to do that, even ones I know IRL.

Why should I believe? Played it a few times. It's a brilliant game. Almost every way better than the Part 1.

What made The Last of us such a great game? - for me It was the story, and characters

No matter how good the graphics are, how great the game-play is, I'll never acknowledge Part 2 because of how terrible the story was.

I'll never understand how people can genuinely think it was a good sequel, and even say that it was better than the first.

I just think if you take any other game with a great story, make a sequel that surpasses it in almost every way, but the story was utter trash then it will never be a good sequel

Part 2 had so many good things about it, but ultimately abandoned the only thing that mattered,

I suspected the port would have issues and when they're all fixed I'll gladly buy and play the first game again.

Exactly, the story is just as important to me as gameplay and graphics. Some games can pull of a sequel exceptionally, the Witcher and God of War are great examples, with those the last sequel in the series could be considered the best.
If you love a good story like I do, play Last of Us part 1 but don't play part 2. However, Final Fantasy 16 is about to be released and it looks like it will have a top notch story, gameplay, and graphics. Can't wait to play it. Wish you all the best my fellow gamers.

GIve it a while and replay it again. You are playing as Abby for a reason

Even in the first game Joel says that their luck can ran out anytime..it isn't at all odd that he faced the inevitable end, perhaps some of you have not noticed just how cheap life is.
Not even with basically a zombie apocalypse can humans cooperate at every level.
And Joel might have doomed mankind into not having any cure either

Abby's rage is completely normal

If someone killed my dad in a post-apocalypose world, IDGAF about who was right,
<insert TOS statement and watchlist trigger phrases involving their associates, families, communities>.

Look at what Joel did to protect his own. Fk who was right.

It's the cycle of violence. And it's what they learn from in the end of game 2 right?
You gotta break it.

I'll play the sequel and enjoy it just to spite you now.

But ND had me playing Joel for Part-1 killing EVERYONE he met.
(unless they killed themselves first.)

As much as I like the concept of Part2 (and I will buy it), you've trained the gamer to kill everything .. then go 'high minded' later?

I see Abby killing Tommy and razing the dam community.
I see Ellie killing Abby.
Part-1 trained me to take no prisoners.
