your post lack information, what is the last thing you seen when trying to launch the game ? did you get error messages ? etc

you can try to reverify the files : https://nerdschalk.com/how-to-verify-game-files-on-steam-check-game-files-integrity/

if still not working maybe your computer can't run the game in its current state..
so you may try this mod https://www.nexusmods.com/thelastofuspart1/mods/24 but i personnally didn't tried it so i can't tell you if it works or not

Thank you! It tries to run the game then steam comes up again in a lil window and says something. I'm reinstalling right now on a different hard drive and we'll see. Pretty frustrating tho

I am using the same i7-9700k CPU with 32GB of Ram but am using a GTX1660ti 6GB video card and the latest 535.98 driver. Game loads and works just fine on Medium settings. No stuttering or crashing. Already played TLOU and Left Behind right thru once.

just ran into another error saying "we have detected you are running the game in compatibility mode for an unsupported operating system version. Please turn off compatibility mode and then restart the game.

If you are not running the game in compatibility mode, your version of Windows may be unsupported. Windows 10 version 1909 or higher is required." I'm not running this game in compatibility mode and my windows 10 is up to date. I'm very confused.

Have you tried updating to Windows 11 ??? That's the OS I'm using.

Why is that ?? I have the same CPU 9700k (maybe a different bios) as you and just updated from 10 to 11 without any problems.

It says I need to have a support boot and then TPM 2.0 needs to be supported?? I haven't updated my bios ever so we'll see what happens

Make sure you are on latest public build. No insider, preview or optional updates. Latest build for Win 10 is 19045.2965. Check to see if you are on that. Im on Win 10 with no issues what so ever.

Also. No need to upgrade to Win 11, but if you choose to go that route a clean install of the OS is recommended. Do not upgrade. Make sure to make a backup of all files that you want to keep before doing so.

However, for faster troubleshooting. Try these suggestions.

Reinstall steam. Just download the setup and run it. It will overwrite and should fix any issues. It will also keep your library intact doing this. So if its steam itself having an problems this would help.

Have you tried a clean boot? Disable all non essential services, programs and tasks from starting with PC. So use services (services app or system configuration app), tasks (task scheduler app), and startup items (task manager) to disable them. Check all 3 areas. If anyone is enabled that software will load and prevent certain games from running.

You could also try updating your display driver. I would recommend you run DDU first and than install latest AMD display driver 23.5.2. Here is link. Make sure to read guide if unfamiliar. https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4518

AMD drivers had some issues with this game that AMD fixed as well as ND. Using DDU and installing latest display driver again should help. AS it will be like installing display drivers for the very first time. It does a great job cleaning out the system and can remove conflicts from previous installs.

You can also try scanning the OS for issues. Run Command prompt as admin and type: sfc /scannow. Once scan is complete run a second time. Regardless if errors were fixed or not.

Also run disk cleanup, than chkdsk (check disk). Google if you need more help on those.

As per your motherboard's BIOS. You should be on version 2811 or 3202 which sets defaults for Win 11 support. If you do have an older BIOS make sure to default the settings first. Than apply the update. Leave defaulted and see if system/game runs ok. If so, than load the optimized settings of your choice and XMP profile if supported.

This was very helpful! Thank you so much, I played a little bit last night, but lets hope that it stays this way. I don't even know what I did to get it working, but again thank you!!
