For someone who never played the first one, i would always recommend the remake.
It has up to date visuals like the second entry (it looks better than RDR2) and has most impotantly updated faces, which means emotions on characters faces are now on an insane level. One of the most important aspects of the game if you ask me.
Everything just is much more cleaner, but it lacks a bit of the nostalgia on the original one.
Like i said its not a problem for people that never touched this franchise and for people that want to relive this emotional rollercoaster i would also recommend the remake.
However as with every Sony title, it comes with a premium pricetag, so its up to everyone if they want to spend that money.
I would say that the first Last of Us is one if not the best game ever made, so it definetly is worth that. (i payed 80 bucks on PS for that).
But I really like the new looks and modability.
Just put Joel in his damn Flanell. ^^
Still the remaster has a special place in my heart, as back then, an idea grows within me which I am about to finally realize with the PC-version. :D
unlike other remakes - resident evil 4, dead space and demon's souls - this game actually delivered more than it took which is honestly a rarity in this industry.
so any reasonable person, can agree that they added more and sacrificed a few tiny animations, in order to create a superior experience, which the devs wanted to create but thanks to inferior ps3 and ps4 hardware, they were incapable of doing so.
now you got that ai... the gameplay feels much better for it. like I said before in my other post, this remake is much better in quality compared to re4 and dead space and the slew of other uninspired and tacky remakes, we are about to receive.
The original game and it's remaster had their flaws (none of them were really serious, though), they weren't old and still look great. The point is - there were absolutely NO NECESSITY for the Remake (no matter how good it is).
As for myself, in most cases I prefer original version of any game over it's remaster/remake. TLOU Part I is not an exception, but, sadly, I have no option on PC.
it's night and day and improves the gameplay and replayability of the game tenfold
I don't need all the improvements the remake provide. I like to see what was achieved by the developers with what they had back then.
ellie was stylized. tess undoubtedly looked better in the original.
I think there is a video of digital foundry and other outlets elaborating on the changes. that is if you are interested.
nonetheless I have to agree that it would have been better if the devs/pubs offered both versions for the consumers. like what capcom currently is doing. you can either play re4 remake or play the original. both are still available but then again tlou remake wasn't exactly sony's idea. naughty dog did it themselves.
