How do they dare ask so much money?
I already own the game on 2 consoles, and now I have to buy it AGAIN to be able to play it on PC? They even barely changed anything apart from redoing the graphics a bit. What in their right mind makes them want to charge the full release price from 10 years ago?!

Edit: This guy nails it pretty well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3AsP1utYZw

Erm, so the whole PC I upgraded a while ago shouldn't matter just because I already own it? Besides the controls on a PC are a million times better not to mention MUCH better frames allowing for way better gameplay/aiming (on consoles I miss more than I hit, I hate controllers as well). The game was the REASON I bought consoles in the past, and now having to pay more than full price again is just them riding on the hype of the show being released and not caring for the multitude of people who already own it?

But I get the gist, If you own those systems already then it makes sense.
Meh, I'd say if it was a release on console sure, but PC gameplay is so much better due to mouse & keyboard (and customizable graphic settings), on consoles I miss more than I hit and having 120+ frames per second on the PC (and having a mouse) should REALLY heavily help me with it.

So they are re-selling a decade old game at full price again. Likely to ride off the HBO hype. Its a money grab scheme none the less. But not one Im willing to pay into. Putting this on wish list for when it sells for $10. I waited a decade to play it on pc I will wait longer. I wont be paying premiums to promote overly extended console exclusive titles lasting a decade; nor will I pay them new game money for a ported to pc game made ten years ago...
Yeah, well said, I will buy the game again though but only through key/serial sites, there's no way I am going to pay full price for this game AGAIN.. if it was a physical copy I might say ok but not for this digital crap. Don't care if the keys/serials are acquired illegally somehow, it's more than fair from my point of view with what they are doing.

This is the same attitude that killed days gone, i bought this game at full price to help fund part three of the last of us. If you like the game series support it, not many good game series left these days.
Yeah, I am all for purchasing games to help a studio (though I bought Days Gone really cheap at a key/serial site because the owners of the developers have stated several times that Days Gone 2 won't be a thing, and definitely not for the near future). But if purchasing The Last of Us on Steam will help get part 2 on here, then I will have less qualms about buying it full price BUT there's nothing been said about part 2 also coming. And it is the far more controversial game so there are strong doubts if that game will ever come to the PC.

Yeah, and in my case it will either be 2k or 4k (depending on how well the game runs, I expect it to run decently). That is why I am so interested in buying it again because now I can actually see something in the near distance rather than it being a blob of pixels, at low framerates..

"lol u dumb lol" Because some people have norms & values? And love a game to death but can't justify buying it at full price AGAIN despite having already bought it, and it being more than 10 years old by now? All they did was spruce up the graphics (and not always to a good level, Tess per example looks horrible now and nothing compared to how she originally looked - the entire vision of what she was/how she looked has been DRAMATICALLY changed).

Then don't buy it, simple as that.

It's not as simple as that. To you it may be, but it's not "simple" - it never really is. Especially when you truly love the game but you suck with controllers and low framerates of consoles. The game on the PC will be a much more fun experience and I'll be able to actually HIT stuff for a change, alongside massively improved graphics. I love the story and the games, but asking full price for a 10 year old game with no new game modes except updated graphics (whilst owning it twice PHYSICALLY), then the decision to buy it is all BUT simple...

It is quite simple, you either buy it or don't and just wait. Wait for sale or try to find a game key on G2A or some other site. You aren't forced to buy anything.

Again, that is not "simple" by any means - for you? Sure.

And not forced to buy anything? This game was the whole reason I bought consoles, it is one my most cherished games of all time but I fail miserably with controllers and I HATE it due to controllers (on consoles) but loved the aesthetics and story, that is why I am considering so hard to purchase it again and I would want to pay full price (even though it's not a physical game), despite hating it - if that means for TLoU2 coming to PC but that is very unlikely due to how controversial it is to the audience.

Most likely I will buy it via serial/key sites (don't care if it is an illegally obtained code).

You are looking way too deep into this, if you wanna buy that badly, just put some money aside and save up and during that time think about it, just wait, it is literally all you can do. Devs won't lower the price nor care if you can't afford it.

"Devs won't lower the price nor care if you can't afford it." I am well aware of that, but it is beyond ridiculous that they ask the full price for such an "old" game, only the graphics were tidied up. I love the game so much, I have been WISHING for 10+ years that it would come to PC, only to realize once it did to be at full price... again. Skyrim per example lowered the price on each successive version, but did they do that? Nah, they only care about profit.

Yea, it's sad. What's even worse is when people defend it or put in their two cents like "nobody is forcing you to buy it". Toxicity at it's best. Save your money, be patient, wait until the price drops and they work out all the kinks.

NEVER pre-order games. NEVER pay full price. It's that simple. The game isn't going anywhere. Just know that more and more people are agreeing with you, and ignore the idiots online - they have nothing good in their life so they spread negativity anywhere they can.

I personally have never played it. I've waited this long, so I can wait longer.
Can't agree more! Though sometimes IF the game is really excellent (and the developers aren't a big studio like crappy EA/Ubisoft) then it could be warranted to pay full price (but as TotalBiscuit would say, you are paying for the highest price for the worst version). But this is DEFINITELY not one of those titles, and worse yet half the community is "defending" the so-called practice..

The price tag would make far more sense if they offered both games with the overhauled textures. It was far more acceptable when mass effect released its full trilogy remaster for the same price they are wanting here. For a port to pc a decade later.

Normally I'd agree with this sentiment, But having played on PS3 already, I know exactly what's in store for me, how the game plays, the plot, the unlocks and such, So on this occasion I did end up pre-ordering.

Plus I'm awful at saving up, So chances are that I'd save up and suddenly find something else to spend it on lol.

I can tell you one thing for certain, If you like story driven games with twists and turns in the plot, you're likely going to enjoy this game whether you buy at launch or wait until the price drops.

It's subjective though, I loved tlou but on the ps3 it's let down by the 720p 30fps and the visuals aren't the best, but the storytelling kinda balances it out.

I cannot agree more honestly. The way they updated Mass Effect is quite good and they bundled all the games, and now they ask full price for a singular game with NOTHING new added, it's preposterous.

Indeed! If you have never played it then a pre-order MIGHT be warranted because it is a great game, and yeah, that is why I struggle so hard with making the decision to buy it because on the consoles it looks absolutely horrible and plays horrible (I miss half the time, or more, due to controllers feeling so gimmicky/sloppy and the low frame rates REALLY do not help as well).
They don't give a ♥♥♥♥ about the fans. Don't buy this.
Yama Jan 23, 2023 @ 11:04pm
Because it’s the Remake, not the Remaster. It’s also $10 cheaper than on PS5, so they’re asking for LESS money. Buy it or don’t.
