At least FF7 is a great game and the other is just a boring moviegame
Few things
1. Most review sites don't let you post reviews until the game comes out. Try posting a review on the new Dead Space 2023 game. They won't let you. Hell I can't even think of a single site that will let you, I'm assuming there is, but most well known sites - metacritic, google, steam - don't.
2. Empty shelf cases? Lol physical big name games still get sold out on launch day / week. Elden Ring was sold out at launch. GoW Ragnarok sold out at launch. Don't believe me? Go to your local video game store during a big name launch and find out for yourself. The entire point is that most stores try to meet demand with a few extra copies available. TLOU2 had dozens of copies available at launch because people most saw the leaks and cancelled their preorder en masse.
3. Trailer showed Joel and Ellie. Game only had Ellie.... for half of it. Hell Joel was erased from certain scenes outright. If I'm selling a Lambo and replace it with a Civic when you come down to check it out, no one will buy it. That's called false advertisement among other things. Kojima did this with MGS2 and received a huge blacklash for it.
4. Finally, loving Abby.... oh boy. The most one dimensional character you can ever play as. You realize her dad was gonna kill a kid against her will, right? Most people when they learn that, tend to stop and question things. Most people tend to be grateful and open up dialogue after being rescued by their dad's alleged murderer. Abby is an absolutely unlovable character and caring for trapped Zebras doesn't fix that. Likewise Ellie realized "revenge bad" after mauling 200 some dudes in her way. Pregnant women don't travel through the apocalypse and people cannot get jacked on half rations. Joel "softening up" to advance the story was also comical. Don't even get me started about the instant teleportation or the lame supporting characters or the plot conveniences or zero character arcs or forced woke politics. Game is an absolute joke.
TLOU is one of my favourite games ever. I beat it at least 10 times.
I loved TLOU2. Not as much as 1, but I didn't turn into an angry crying baby like those "true TLOU fans" you speak of.
Still a fantastic game.
1. Metacritic literally had user revirews before it's launch. That's what I'm saying and why it's so laughable that anyone points to it as an ace up their sleeve as 'proof'.
A lot of butthurt people who saw the leak with Joel swarming a review site before they've even put the ~30hrs in makes the whole idea of these public review sites pointless. Something like Steam's system of requiring ownership and being able to see people's playtime at the time of review is atleast a little better.
2. Like I said maybe in America? I dunno gamestores work differently here I guess, I'm mostly digital anyway so I rarely go to my EB Games or what-have-you. When I do it's full of display cases and you get your discs from the back anyway.
3. Ah I see, I never watched any trailers nor that leak etc because I wanted to go in completely blind. Sort of like how Hollywood spoils almost every movie these days in the trailer alone. Been happening a lot in game announcements now also :/
4. Subjective opinion is subjective. And the 'Her Dad was going to kill a kid' is so black and white without context. it's an ultimate example of the trolley problem. I'm sorry you weren't able to sympathise with both parties and still felt the need to hate one of them throughout. But it is what it is.
No comment on... teleporting? Never understood this new 'woke' phrase from today's younger generation either. Is that like, not appreciating representation? :/
1. Proof?
2. Nah it was a worldwide phenomena. Here's Japan's shelves a week after release: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheLastOfUs2/comments/hkx5m7/current_inventory_status_of_tlou2_in_japan/
4. Surgeons take the hypocritical oath before becoming a physician, one of which is the do no harm clause. No matter what. Jerry killing Ellie definitely violates that cause, an unbreakable oath. It's such a blatantly over the line unethical example I really don't understand why anyone sane would oppose it thus Jerry and Abby are objectively hated for a reason. Joel was 110% in the right for rescuing Ellie.
Teleportation as in the plot needs them to be somewhere, so they are. Abby finding Joel so easily, Ellie finding Abby so easily, both of them making the trek across an apocalyptic wasteland so easily, again in Seattle, again on the Seraphite Island and again on Santa Barbara. It's immersion breaking. It's unrealistic. I have no problem with "representation" the first game had plenty of that and I loved it but it did a better job at being realistic about it. The second game dialed it up to clown levels. A ripped bodybuilder during a time with food scarcity? All men being portrayed as weak betas while all the women are leaders? Gotta be trans during the apocalypse? Really those are the issues the game chose to focus on? A reflection of modern day politics and arguments? Zero creativity? There's a reason why it's hated so much and Naughty Dog ditched all potential DLCs and moved on.
The hate just seethes through them and they make it their entire identity for some reason. I don't know why but It's not healthy :/
1. Seeing it with our own eyes at the time of?
I mean I could ask for 'proof' for any of the counter claims being made here also, so you know.. right back at you.
Thankfully metacritic deleted them over time, but you can scroll all the way back to the release date (2020 June 19th) and still see hundreds of people spewing their rage specifically about the story - who are apparently all super fast speedrunners able to beat this *30+hr game* in the timespan of a single day...? Yeah I think not.
Clearly they're just folk who saw the leak and decided to brigade, rather than being legitimate complaints about the 30+hr storyline that they played from start to finish.
2. Yep that's certainly a screenshot devoid of any context.. the fact that you got it from the cesspool that is the internet's biggest hate-sub of this sequel shows a bit of bias too, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was posted there with that caption for karma farming. Or maybe not and you're right; who knows but it's not exactly the trump card 'gotcha' photo you think it is.
Like I said 3 times now, I have no idea or can comment on other foreign countries' game store practices, how popular the series is in Japan etc. given the setting it could stand to reason that it's more popular in the West.
3. It's... a zombie apocalypse and the end of humanity as we know it...?
This is almost as bad as that other thread floating around here talking about how Ellie is too young to use a gun or drive, but atleast that guy in that thread was clearly joking around for a laugh; the fact that you're serious is astonishing. It's a lawless wasteland and yet even still, he struggled with the idea and was deeply conflicted about the choice to hurt an innocent girl if it meant saving the human race, did you forget about the flashback scenes showing all of this?
4. None of that 'teleporting' existed like you claim, and it was the whole basis of Ellie's story, to go through the leads and work her way up through the posse of people she remembered encountering in order to get more info.
The irony of this complaint is that it was 10x worse in the first game, and part of why I didn't like it as much on my most recent playthrough. Smash cuts over and over 100's of miles across America? TLoU2 showing the moment-to-moment journey is was I appreciated and found more interesting personally.
Wow. I'm uh, not going to touch your misogyny and borderline transphobia rant with a 10 foot pole there. Suffice it to say that I didn't pick up on or see any of those connections on my playthrough(s) means that this is clearly something you think a lot about, especially to be triggered by it? Dude... just.. do better.
1. Why is it that metacritic only deletes negative reviews but not positive reviews? Think about it. Negative reviews hurt sales. Positive reviews help sales. So obviously they have some kind of backdoor agreement with developers to only delete negative reviews. There's plenty of low content, positive reviews that were posted before the game came out that weren't deleted. I don't see you criticizing that, now do I? Also, the game can be beaten in 2 hours. Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean others can't. Skill issue.

2. Might be a cesspool of hate but it's organic unlike the "official" subreddit which bans any arguments that disagree with the narrative.
3. Ellie isn't too young to use a gun. WTF? That's your best counter argument? I've seen plenty of kids IRL shoot guns responsibility before and some do it really well too like shooting home intruders. Also, you realize kids have served in wars before, right? The record for WW2 was 12 years old -> Calvin Leon Graham. The record for WW1 was 8 years old -> Momčilo Gavrić. This is when you know your side is out of touch with reality. The concept of kids shooting guns to survive is too unrealistic for you because GuNs DaNgErOuS but having access to a gym and high protein diet in the APOCALYPSE with limited resources is "stunning and brave."
4. TLOU2 isn't a moment-to-moment journey lol. God of War 2018 is a moment to moment journey because the camera never leaves Kratos. TLOU2 is teleportation galore. Abby teleported to Jackson from Seattle. Ellie teleported from Jackson to Seattle. Then at Seattle they were teleporting all over the place because the plot needed them to. Then to Seraphite island then to Santa Barbara.
>misogyny and borderline transphobia
Lmao BS. Losing the argument? Cry misogyny. Tomb Raider remake was a great game btw with a strong female lead. Your boy Druckmann needs to take notes. Also friendly reminder that TLOU2 can't even beat TLOU1 in sales on PS4 alone. This isn't including PS3 or PS5 sales or the time they gave TLOU1 away for free on PS+. It is a disappointment by every metric. Get woke go broke.

Neither have you. Go look up strongman pictures before the 1930s, before they synthesized testosterone and anabolic steroids and before they got proper diets down. None of the *MEN* look particularly big (unless its their abdomen) or well defined and this is even with all of them flexing in photos. What kind of apocalypse has unlimited food and gyms? Answer: Not a real apocalypse. Written by a guy with no creativity. Also keep in mind that women have less total muscle mass than men. Neither one of them will be jacked in the apocalypse.
Wrong. You don't need steroids and unlimited food to build and maintain a physique, a visit to any prison yard in America would make that clear. I don't know why you bring up "gyms" as some necessity to muscle growth either, like there are no free weights to be had or body weight exercises or heavy ♥♥♥♥ laying around in the post apocalypse. Abby doesn't look like a gym rat at any rate, she looks like someone that's cultivated the upper body strength needed to support her own body weight, ie to climb stuff. Then again, you think Abby has "ripped bodybuilder" amounts of muscle, so it's not like you can differentiate. Thanks for sharing the full gamut of image board cope with me though, it never gets any less tedious or stupid.
