You can only get Japanese interface/voice in Japan. Nothing confusing about that. Do you live in Japan? Then you can't get the Japanese interface or voice. Really, it might be impossible to make it any more clear than that.

You should be fine so long as you keep your Steam account and payment method localized to the US. I do the same thing (except I'm from the UK) and I have access to all the English language stuff no problems.

its written ambiguously, from the exact phrasing there are two plausible inferences, one is that you can only purchase the Japanese version of the game IF you are in japan, two is that if you live in japan you can only play the Japanese version of the game. thats two completely different meanings that are both accurate interpretations of the phrasing, so no its not "clear" at all.

You appear to have missed the entire thread. The question is whether the message means the game is only available in Japanese. The debate in the thread is whether that's a reasonable question to ask.

I can settle all discussion quite easily. Where you live is entirely irrelevant. Where is your account registered? If your account is a registered Japanese account, you will have access to the Japanese interface/voice.

If your account is registered anywhere else, you will not have access to the Japanese interface/voice. If you are a US Marine stationed in Okinawa, you will not have access to the Japanese interface/voice unless you change your Steam region to Japan.

I will also add that this is a common thing that PlayStation does. They often only give the Japanese interface/voice to customers in Japan. If you're buying a PlayStation game that has the Japanese interface/voice, it will likely only be available to people with accounts registered to Japan.

2: if you're located in Japan you can only have Japanese localization

Two very distinct ways of interpreting it. To say the message is "extremely clear" is a falsehood.

Ironically still not the topic of the thread. Most people here seem to read it as the game is only available in Japanese. I guess that gives us 3 distinct options. The actual answer is of course #1, exactly how you read it.

Hi, here comes another person who googled that phrase, because he was curious what it means.

At least I did not think that this phrase means, that the game is ONLY available in Japanese.

My first interpretation was, that this means, that the Japanese language is only available in Japan.
But then I thought that maybe the company uses "lawyer English" and therefore it means something else.
That's when I went to Google and came there to read this thread.

From what I got is, that people also wondered if this means that people from Japan are limited to only the Japanese language or of they have ALL languages available.
One could they, that the phrase implies that, but I think the warning would start with something like „In Japan the game only supports Japanese voice/interface"

Well, now that all is clear now, I have another question regarding this topic.
In Germany we have this stupid situation that when I bought "Max Payne 2" I automatically got "Max Payne 2 DE" for some kind of censorship reason. (DE=Deutsch=German)
Coming back to this topic I would like to ask the folks from Japan if steam handles those games with the language disclaimer similarly and adds a "JP" in the end?

I'm' not sure if we ever did come to the bottom of this mystery. A lot of people have a lot of different opinions about it thats for sure.
