The ranked gameplay took a few patches to implement. Initially they only had public lobbies and we had to create rooms ourselves. The introduction of ranked pushed a focus to win by any means because of pretty reward badges -thus kite metas, etc. So, that pretty much derailed the players who wanted to experiment with lower tier non-meta builds in PvP.
None of the patches have resolved issues with the metas that plague ranked PvP. The last one apparently gave light bi-peds too much in gains.
It was like 4-5 months ago that we needed to convert to the global pool to find matches.
Due to the player counts the system will legit throw low ranks against higher ranks. It can take a while to cue a match depending on hour of day and what the current day is.
Group PvP is either dead or not worth stepping into. One of the players at the top of that side commented on the downfall. There are nasty team tactic exploits that just aren't fun to go against.
I have no idea on how PSN or XBOX are fairing compared to Steam's pool. For reasons that should be obvious, PSN should have the largest and longest lasting player pool. Someone informed that the PS4 edition of AC6 went to $20 IIRC -which should also theoretically help that pool of players to sustain match making.
it's only dead on xbox.
again i strongly urge everyone to check it out if you have not already.
