Pile bunker.
So is this thing a joke or what? My arms have a good melee stat but this does nothing to Ibis.

You have to stun an enemy then hit them with a fully charged strike. It does insane damage, but you have to know what you are doing.
So when people say to use this on Ibis they are also saying "Stun Ibis regularly".
So nonsense.

You can stun Ibis like 3 seconds into the fight.
I mean yeah.... what else its arguably better than the chain saw if you know what you are doing but sure there are more unhinged people like using a full punching set up with the worst core and generator combo because its funny
Bunker also has the benefit of being able to get back to evasion after a single stab, but yeah boss health gets a bit bonkers. Every time i replay the true final boss I keep forgetting how absurdly high their health+damage resists are.

At least iblis takes proper damage IF you hit them while staggered. But chasing them around can get old even S ranking replays without melee.

If you hate the max melee thrusters which are kinda bad as normal thrusters, don't worry the top normal speed thruster is 3rd best melee even if it is an energy hog. The medium generalist thrusters are 2nd best melee.

as long as melee stat isn't low meter it is fine as the top ones are differences of about 10 meters of range, and that does not apply to the bunker heavy stab where you need to be drifting your quick boost/assault boost momentum into them anyways.

Unrelated to melee tip with iblis. Some people talk trash "The helicopter taught you to attack before the health bar shows up, idiot!"

Iblis is invincible in phase 2, until their healthbar shows up again.

"Invincible until you let them finish their opening tantrum" also applies to phase 2 of true final boss halfway mark, when their health bar does not leave the screen. They just stop taking damage for a bit.

Chainsaw on the ground: cool if you can land the big hit AFTER they are staggered. thanks for the S rank idiots.

Chainsaw in the air: staggered enemy slides off the chainsaw and kills you while you are still in the animation.
(This has let my light AC escape being chainsaw killed in PvP too)

Don't forget the fact you can't assault boost with the chainsaw revved up, and evades cancel the rev. "If you know what you are doing" actually means "Dealing with the huge drawbacks fishing for the big hit"

See also: Why I gave up on the meme lance+bunker combo. Can't combo when the lance heavy attack no-clips you through the target for no damage on the 2nd hit (see again: "Oh it isn't just me, my light AC just survived because of that in PvP " )

Regular default laser blade can work out if you like that better as long as you are using one of the upper melee arms. There are high-tech arms with 2nd best melee in the upper 130s range with good overall stats if you are sick of basho being trash for guns.

Lance is my most used melee weapon. It's great, but it takes skill to use properly. If you want to mash and have it aimbot for you, then you will be very disappointed.

I mean, "skill" is a funny word for "Plan for it no-clipping through the enemy instead of it dealing full damage" I get my best results with the lance treating it like a gimmick compared to the default blade.

Hitting things with the lance in the first place isn't the problem, well, unless you actually were button mashing. Why would you even think of button mashing on a melee weapon that lacks a multi input combo anyways, flame? did you mistake if for the dagger?

You might as well tell people "Don't button mash with a grenade launcher" . Unless I was unaware button mashing made them secretly reload faster the whole time.

Lance requires you to line it up (and be on a pretty even horizontal plane if you are point blank).

If you just mash, aka hit the button ASAP with no planning, then you will whiff.

Ibis specifically gets yote by the Pilebunker, cuz Ibis has anything but poise and health

Flame, flame buddy. That is literally every melee weapon because vertical tracking on melee is terrible, it would rather let you do a multi swing combo under their feet or over their head than nudge you up or down to fix that.

We have been over this. Including, see above, the risks of even bothering with a chainsaw in the air if you still hit.

Maybe try some obscure yet vital melee info for missions. Like needing to be about 68k total weight (low 67k can't handle it) to one-shot kill a basic MT with a kick anymore since the nerfs on Bipeds, quads, and even tanks. including OS melee upgrades (RJ is in the 55k range, which can be a concern for featherlights)

"Be on the horizontal plane because melee vertical tracking is trash" is "Shooting a gun without a lock might miss" level stuff.

the next best melee arms arent available until chapter 5, so your next best melee arms at the first encounter would be 120s? to 110 VP-46S I think apparently I'm refering to their old stats -_- so basically the choices boil between VP-46S, Firmeza or Melander if basho is not an option

Oh, it does stuff to Ibis. You just gotta do it right and respect the fight.

Forget pileclunker and just retune your OS for max kinetic damage, max direct damage, and maybe assault armor. Buy/equip heavier pieces to run twin chain guns and twin stun needles. Be patient and sit on Ibis' move set until he pauses, hit him with stun needle to cause ACS, then shred him with twin chains. Doesn't take long to kill him. The two doofuses before him are harder.
