what happens if i click new game
ive beat the entire game all endings but wanna show off a full playthrough to people
u cant go back to previous cutscenes such as the starting one in an already existing playthrough, so its definitely probably best to start a new one
however
im afraid this will wipe my progress, and if i ever want to use my fancy endgame acs again ill have to beat the game another 3 times
are my fears warranted?

I don't know but I believe you can backup your save files, so if you try it out I would definitely do that first.
Starting a new game will delete your old one, yes. One of the many problems with auto-saves.

To my knowledge it deletes your save.

Luckily you're on PC so just back up this:
C:\Users\[your_username]\AppData\Roaming\ArmoredCore6

Steam Cloud saves will probably nag about something when you try to put it back, but you should be able to tell it what files to use.

Either way, do this at your own risk.

There's no need to start a new game and erase all your progress, you can rewatch all the cutscenes by replaying missions.

Go to the Replay Missions menu and select Illegal Entry -- the intro cinematic will play just the same as if you're booting the game up for the first time.

Been creating save backups exactly for this purpose.

Though, with the way the game has been structured, I don't really see the need for starting a new game.

i know this one cuz ive done it once. clicking new game obv, deletes your progress. story-wise and gear-wise but, AC data and emblems stay. thats how it was for me. so you don't lose EVERYTHING.

Since you have done it, I have to ask. How much confirmation is required before your save is deleted? Is it gone the instant you click new game, or is are more clicks required to start deleting your main save? I have my save file backed up but I am still too afraid to try myself!

once you click 'new game' it'll say it found existing progress data and ask if you want it deleted and start a new game. you can ok that or cancel it. it wont touch your save without confirmation first

There's no reason why we can't have multiple save files when all souls games allowed this. Kind of ridiculous.

To clarify, you simply copy, paste, and overwrite the AC6 files back into the AppData\Roaming\ArmoredCore6 folder?

From what I've heard, there is currently no way to repeat the story-specific Garage dialogue. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'd love to see them available in the Archive section.

Agreed 100%. Past Armored Core games allowed multiple saves. I don't see why AC6 lacks it.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to do a playthrough with the unlock limitations of playthrough 1, but I’m not gonna delete all my data to do it. It’s a shame.

I know this is an old conversation. But for anyone else that finds this page, I have tested this. I had a fully finished save that I didn't want to lose because it's 100% done. But also because it's 100% done, there's nothing left to do. So I wanted to start a new game like you guys. Results:

Yes, when you click Yes I want to delete my save progress button, only your story progress and parts progress get deleted. The saved AC Data, paint schemes, and custom emblems are saved. But emblems unlocked through the campaign are not saved.

Also, I turned off auto save to the cloud in the Steam properties for this game and I managed to make a backup of my save file found here:

C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\ArmoredCore6

I played around a bit and it seems like this method allows you to switch save files manually through explorer. It works fine, no issues. Just have to really remember to turn off auto save to cloud.
