Kinetic sniper cannons too to fill the same niche but with higher impact, higher attack power, maybe 2-5 round magazines and varying stats with recoil as well. No reason we should have literally 40 missile options and 0 good med-long range kinetic options for back weapons.
If a plasma cannon can fit into the game with a charged shot that has medium range and a huge explosion effect without being imbalanced, there is no reason to not have heavy hitting kinetic options that don't involve a charge mechanic or blast radius to be added to the game. AC is about building the mech you want, so why did they deny this type of player what they want?
This game LACKS ultraheavy arm weapons
Like a Concrete Pillar with a bunch of boosters welded onto it, or a COMICALLY large beam cannon.
They were in the "Awesome but Impractical" zone in V/VD, often having a blue ton of drawbacks (like not being able to equip any weapon bays since they took up both back slots) on top of basically hamstringing your AC in some fashion after their limited active time was up.
Oh, it was not -that- extreme, lol, no.
But, I think that the balance affected how good your AC was at turning, etc.
If anything, it added a cosmetic layer to the customization. Like, for instance, you had all sorta horns/antennas for the head. You wanted Gundam? You had it~
