The new heavy machine gun isn't the best weapon, but it feels good and is fun to use.

And that is what matters most. I don't expect them to be used much in pvp due to their mediocre damage and stagger outputs compared to their similar competition.

Of all simple automatics they have the worst dps(except the burst AR, but that weapon is just the worst of the burst rifle and ars combined), but their other features tend to make up for it. Interestingly their best feature is sustained fire, with their good magazine size and fast reloads, they have a pretty high uptime rate. It also has the AR's ammo economy, which makes it a great pve weapon imo.

It's no linear rifle, but it definitely has a good vibe to it.

I probably would have used it a lot for pve too, sadly I played the single player content to death already so I am mostly playing the new ranked mode.

As you say, it is near useless for that.

I can't say it'll take the ransetsu RF out of my hand, but it's at least a better option than any of the assault rifles if I wanted to give my fingers a break from clicking every shot. Stats aren't so terrible as to be completely useless and the uptime is nice, I've seen it around in PvP a bit, some people having some success though definitely not something high up in the meta.

Honestly, I haven't touched the multiplayer, but I'm loving the changes that make a bunch of ballistic weapons actually work well SP now. The assault rifles actually feel good to use now! It's great. Now all we need is some new missions, but I suppose that's more likely as DLC than in a patch.

When does the HMG unlock? Its what got me back to AC6, I just didnt like the rifles (popguns) Machineguns (robot uzis somehow worse than an upscaled robot uzi would be...) and the gatling gun is just obnoxious. It does work, but its not fun to shoot.

No clue, but it must be from story progression since all the new parts were automatically unlocked for me.

In missions it is pretty good because it has decent range so its damage is pretty consistent. Plus I feel like it is a weapon where you can focus more on avoiding damage rather than trying to make sure you stay at optimal range for max dps. But if you can do both easy then you might want to use something else.

I have been using it well in pvp, it gives a steady stream of damage, great at applying pressure, i use it with a bazooka in the hanger, so i can keep the pressure on.
