Why tho?! Its GUTTED!
While I am truly grateful and love that we even have an armored core game... Why the HECK can't we dual wield melee? Why do we NOT have weapon arms? Why can we not ALSO use heat blades and physical shields like a MAJORITY of 'elite' enemies use? Why do we NOT have access to MANY of the two handed weapons we so often see those same 'elite' enemies using?! (ik this is pushing it, but why cant we have transforming ACs also?!) Why was so much taken away from us in the AC6, it left it feeling extremely gutted to me in comparison to previous titles. And if i may, and i'm sure ill get tons of hate for this (as if everything else wont already lol), it doesn't surprise me it didn't get game of the year. While I LOVE this game and am again so excited and happy we even got a new armored core game... It almost felt like a slap in the face if i'm honest... There IS A REASON why the wiki hasn't been completed, online play is ALREADY DEAD, and there isn't even an official AC6 Discord server yet (only private-split servers for multiple games). The title is already within a lesser-known series, you're already pandering to an audience that's mostly been a fan of the series for many previous titles. Why in the world did they/ya'll think it was a good idea to gut weapon classes, freedom of choice with weapon placement, etc!?! I can't even reminisce about the good'ol days when I was one of the top "bladers" in pvp in previous titles.. THE MAIN BUILD I HAD BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO AND THE WHOLE REASON I WAS EXCITED FOR PVP!!! sucks man, but anyways, ily, ty for ya'lls time and the game... ig... But don't even try to tell me it was due to a lack of time or money when we KNOW what an amazing studio FromSoft is and all they have/can do. Low-key depressing the main thing I was excited for, I can't even do...

Lemme do the defending:
1. Dual wield melee is an AC4/FA thing, it's not a mainstream for the series.
2. Weapon arms, probably lack of times. Plus, you can use your fists as melee weapons so perhaps they haven't found a way to animate how to swing the ammo-depleted weapon arms yet.
3. Two-handed melee weapons, that's a new thing altogether.
4. Physical shields on arm WERE a placeholder in the game, maybe it will be re-activate in the expansion or the next game.

If I'm being honest I'm kind of surprised they never made a hand counterpart to dual back weapons. A big cannon, a 2 hand Gatling Gun (see TF2 Heavy for example), a good old fashioned long rifle...it's a big untapped avenue of weapon design that just kind of sticks out to me that it was never even attempted.

Would have also made small weapon storage better back in the Gen 3/3.5 days too.

They probably have not thought of two-handed weapons altogether, melee or not.

Anyway, OP, I do agree that the game lacks much parts, especially for ballistic weapons.
Just don't agree with lacking in melee because AC6 probably has the most melee weapons of all the AC games.

Closest we ever had to a two hand weapon was the Mass Blade ultimate weapon from V/VD really.

Also in regards to the melee offerings, this is pretty much the first time they've been really distinct, aside from the Redshift and Moonlight no two melee weapons function alike in AC6 and honestly it's a good change, melee always felt a bit...underdeveloped in prior titles imo.

I think the previous ones allowed you to have a shield in one hand and a sword in the other at least

Armored Core 6 was not made for us veteran players. It was made for onboarding new players. To help make the game as n00b friendly as possible, they made the customization as simple and bare bones as possible (and reintroduced a stronger hard lock because apparently people don't know how to point and shoot).
The unspoken insult of that design philosophy is it means From has little confidence in the modern gamers' ability to learn and adapt to a more complex game.

They didn't put weapon arms because they want you to consider recoil on each build. Yes, older games had them, but they look really bad!
Scrub McDuff Nov 17, 2023 @ 7:38pm
So, certain canon's can only fire one at a time, even if it's dual mounted. The recovery time is just not worth it.

Now i use moonlight and redshift, I switch them so I can try continuous 4 hits. Imagine doing double double mounting. The problem you would be running into is the recovery time.

I don't even think *in PvP sense, you could dual mount, stagger window is very narrow, just not effective setup

And then you look at the dagger and stun Batton, they are already effective.

To dual wield, it changes animation and probably need to scale down dmg since you are going to get more hits.

Gundam games hardlock knockdown so you can't do more than the specified hits, but this game doesn't limit how many hit.

Tho, I would like a laser sword allowing two hand wield. Massive dmg and massive penalty.

Vast majority of Armored Core games blade is left arm only AC6 is a return to true Armored core in that regard

you can use a shield and a blade nothing is stopping you

no idea what you are going on about here, you can get any weapon you see an enemy AC use

no thanks that sounds awful

it didn't there is more parts in AC6 than any other baseline game

it literally has more content than any other baseline AC game, you are talking out your ass

there is more weapon types in AC6 than pretty much any other AC game, they even brought back many weapons missing form AC4/V such as the orbit weapons, EO's, pursuit missiles, etc, etc.

freedom of choice with weapon placement
This doesn't even make sense.

No you weren't, but if you want play me in Last Raven and see if you can land even a single blade hit on me.

Glad to hear that. I love having melee enthusiasts around the field. Love to karasawa on their face.

Tired topics in AC6 forums: anything asking for any form of co-op, dual wield melee, game bad play other mech game that is even more niche.

Hate to be that guy, but there are some PCA-exclusive weapons, like the tommy-gun style rifle (think it's a laser rifle?), among others. They also get a beefier laser lance, and a couple of other bits and pieces.

Course, the HCs/LCs are bigger than the ACs, so you'd probably need to scale them down to fit.

EDIT: I just realised you said "any enemy AC", so uhh, yeah... ignore this, lol. The PCA HC/LCs aren't ACs. Whoops.

Honestly, the only thing I actually miss from VD is the physical shields, but I expect we'll see those in a later update, or perhaps the expansion. Weirdly enough, I never actually used a shield throughout my three play-throughs, but wahey.

Edit: the physical sword -- - i would love a more impact damage melee option

So far Bazooka + mouse manual aiming has been working well in pvp. Especially against melee since they tend to approach in the ground due to the lack of vertical attack. And they move in quite predictable way.

I suppose Sniper cannon will gut every left melee hogs out from the picture. Also stationary missile boats.
