It is possible that this is true.
However observations cause me to question this for several reasons.
1) I have 6 friends who bought the game 3 bought the deluxe version (PC), and 1 who bought the launch day version (PS5). All 3 with the PC version found they have extra parts upon starting the game on there first play through that were not present upon start of my or my friends standard editions or the Launch day version.
2) I have seen this on several first time let's plays streams as well. And they have no idea why and just guessed it was because the bought the deluxe edition.
3) Many people on forums have mentioned seeing the same things I have noticed in points 1 and 2. And is a large part of why they want to the get the deluxe as well. I find it hard to believe so many people could be so mistaken.
4) When A friend of mine who owned the standard PC version attempted to import a save data as she could not clear chapter 1 (I do not condone doing this but it is valid to the conversion.) she receive a message that said something to the effect of DLC Licences not present. Fallowed by 5-6 messages that said did say "DLC Removed" As the art book and soundtrack are not In game this is a very odd message to get upon boot up.
To me this points to in game content being available in some form that was not part of the standard edition game.
Or at the very least gave access to content that is available later in the game at the start of the game. I have not finished the game yet so I may encounter the same content later. It's also possibly that it could be a common or uncommon bug in the game.
All cases can be true. But only the first explain the DLC content removed messages.
Now I could be wrong. That's okay if I am. But until I hear it directly from a FormSoftware representative who can explain the oddities I have to go with my observations.
Either way, in game content or not. I still want the soundtrack and i'm okay upgrading or buying it as DLC for $10-$15 but I am not going to pay $70 for a soundtrack I had no reason to want prior to hearing the music.
The bonus parts are the Melander C3 frame, which you could have also got by pre-ordering, if you pre-ordered or have the deluxe edition you will have them from the start of the game, if you didn't pre-order or don't have the deluxe edition you can still unlock them later into the game (might have been during new game+ for me i forget) but they are unlockable.
there is also various places you can get the soundtrack, its only really the book you are missing.
It's not the same thing. Hard to listen to YouTube on your phone while working when you work in a area that gets no signal. And can't use it for games that access your audio files to generate game play. Also you never know when a streaming video or song will disappear due to copyright or licencing. So it may just be my but I prefer that I actually own my media and keep backups on hard copy. Plus I like to support work I enjoy by purchasing it. When the cost is within reason.
