AC is fully customizable mechs. Nuff said.
It doesn't compare at all. ZoE2 is basically a character action game except you're a flying mecha.
Armored Core is actual mechs, with weight. Where instead of swinging your melee weapon over and over, it's all about landing ONE good swing.
Customization is important, there's a ton of numbers that make up your mech stats and ALL of them are gonna matter. Tons of guns, hand held, shoulder mounted. Multiple leg types that give you various advantages such as more weight capacity or being able to better use certain weapon types, or give you better speed/mobility. Tons of parts for the other slots (Head, Core, Arms, backpack/booster, etc) that will all influence the performance of your machine.
That said, you'll definitely be fast, even faster if you build around mobility, but this isn't gonna be like ZoE where you're zipping between foes while rapidly comboing all of them. Like others have said, watch gameplay of other Armored Cores. Four Answer (AKA 4A) is a good one to look at for an idea of what to expect.
Unrelated, but I find this funny because this is what people got on Daemon X Machina's melee combat for.
ZOE is unironically a beat em up/wrestling robot game.
Ac is shooty fly boy
If you want to compare two games from the same era look up armored core 2 and the first zone of enders to get an idea
Armored core is all about customizing your mech to suit your playstyle, blow stuff up and survive, get new parts, keep customizing and so on.
That said, From has changed a lot, and quality of life changes, gameplay changes etc are probably going to make this much more accessible than previous titles that may seem a bit daunting. Or not lol, this is from software after all.
That said, I played the older titles and loved em. Am pretty excited to see the series coming back after so long. Really, mech games in general have been lacking
cheers
