Crazy! I know.
No idea what you're smoking regarding the Ransetsu-AR and Scudder though. Both are just significantly worse versions of the RF and generally awful. Worse range, meh damage, no stagger.
The one thing that the Scudder has going for it is that it's light and with decent range. It might find some use as a chip damage weapon to stop the stagger bar from resetting, but only if you are really limited in available weight.
I'm pretty convinced that mid-range guns will never be good in AC6. The engagement range is so compressed that you might as well run a close range gun with much better DPS than a mid-range one. The Etsujins absolutely shred now.
Unfortunately have to agree about mid-range. I did 4/FA with assault rifles, and V/VD with almost exclusively rifle for KE/battle rifle for TE/laser rifle for CE, so I miss that kind of ranged combat. Will probably try out the machine guns tomorrow, I already tried LUDLOWs on PvP a little as support for when enemies get closer and I can feel the potential.
Chang-Chen has too much recoil and somehow less range and DPS than a Ludlow. Fromsoft? Hello?
Like the other guy said above the Etsujin is quite good. It's a great way to get some stagger pressure at a pretty light weight budget.
I'd say the ranking would be:
Etsujin > Chang-Chen >= Ludlow
All in all the SMGs are pretty nice now.
