Most weapons only have two same-class variations, some don't even have more than one like the Laser Handgun, the Ransetsu Burst Rifle and the one Needle Gun (the handheld one).
With less variety you kind of will just inevitably wind up with people settling on what floats to the top, though the recent buffs did at least move the Assault Rifles from literal garbage to usable.
I mean the previous games are also have its own problem with multiplayer. But I think what is change is people in general and STAGGER? Or maybe I'm old now... xD
Anyway Story mode are pretty great! :D
Stagger really does spoil every facet of weapon choice and the game itself. I would have preferred cumulative slow-down on weapons as opposed to being outright stunned (How does a robot get stunned?). A shotgun would be more viable for how it makes the target easier to hit with a melee attack, but also would mean you're taking the risk of dashing into a shield enemy or an enemy with their own melee to trade blows.
A really fun way to use weapons with a lot of aoe is to free-aim them at the start of a 1v1, predicting where the opponent will be. And if you've really got brass balls, you can swap to manual aim mid fight and do the same thing. You can even land hits with it on targets trying to dodge it without even breaking lock-on if you corner them against a building in the environment, due to them detonating on impact with terrain and the huge aoe, their quick-boost won't save them.
These weapons combined with over 2000 attitude stability, to ensure it would take at least 3 zimmerman shots to stagger me, makes encountering zimmerman users on autopilot just a free win.
However, its definitely not fun to fight a mid-long range build with. Especially those lightweight reverse joint users that just pepper me with lasers from a mile away.
Anyway, I'm sure everyone here can come up with something creative.
Yeah I agree, STAGGER is just not right, Same goes with the absent of turn-speed too I think ACV/VD have the best stagger mechanic, You only he stagger with big caliber weapon. And it happen just a sec and it just for the cool visual and feedback of how cool that weapon is :D
Not this Fever time for bonus damage non-sense here. I mean you can also build an AC with dual laser pistols and chip away your opponent AP... Or Missile boat with ton of AP and with the same AB speed as the light weight... But is it fun? Hmm...
My thoughts exactly, I was even going to mention something about the fever time aspect to it but didn't know how to word it so thank you lol
In AC4A I had a missile boat that could fly forever while raining missiles down at long range, a super light weight stupid fast dual melee glass cannon, a more standard medium build with a mix of weapons, and my go-to light weight melee speedster, and I could clear a bunch of missions with just meme builds. The customisation and variety of parts was just so fun.
rarely use it, never use it in pvp either. not that good imho. decent to be sure but there are many better weapons.
