Did you all also hated the heat mechanic of the previous games?
I was reading that it wasn't a very welcoming change. Strangely I think it fits the series much better than stagger, what do you all think?

Well, if exist. Our AP will be burned by the amount of assault boost, enemy fire, quick boost. Makes more people raging.

I forgot if AC2 has it, but 3 and Last Raven, even normal handgun can easily cause overheat than explosive.

I prefer the stagger mechanic. I kind of wish they kept energy weapons draining power from your energy gauge though, cause right now they're mostly overtuned compared to projectiles.

Issue with heat was: you either had completly OP radiator and it felt like you wasted weight. Or you didnt and you got owned by something you could do nothing against.
For both you and enemies, it made Arena trivial with gun arms.

I never cared for the heat mechanic and needing radiators. I was happy when I first turned on my ps3 fired up armored core 4 and saw there was no longer radiators.

Yeah, the damage overtime from overheating was annoying too. I just wish this game had something similar, that it replaced the stagger instance, in MechWarrior games when you overheat your Mech shuts down. Overheating an enemy and having them shutdown for me would have been more fitting.

Getting hit by heat weapons is pretty much game over since it kills your ability to get away from the thing hitting you with heat.

It would probably need some rebalancing to work for sure. Maybe I'm just not happy with the stagger mechanic in this game.

I think if they reworked overheat it would be interesting.

Like maybe AC heat affects performance so it punishes panicked quickboosting and rewarding good light mech play somehow? Or extra heat incurs extra damage but also gives bonus damage to certain weapons or applies fire damage to certain weapons.

It was interesting as an alternative means to cause damage, but I remember exploiting the hell out of it and heating every single AC out I came across with grenade guns. After 3 they nerfed the crap out of that mechanic and removed it wholesale in gen 4. I'd rather they bring back more ECM jammer parts.

I think it would def make light mechs more appealing, right now light mechs are kind for experienced players only, there isn't really a need to use them unless you want a challenge since mid mechs have basically no bad traits.

Overheat was mostly cause by the player. It's a limiting mechanics. Imagine Elden Ring having such mechanics. Roll too much and you lose health. Enemy can burn you to lose more health while trying to roll to get away. It was a very bad addition. Doesn't need to come back.

Well, it HAS stamina, that's one hell of a limiting factor. I also don't mind limiting factors, like, the economy of the previous games was much better, you had to think strategically with your load out, mini-guns would bleed you dry in terms of cash to the point the mission wouldn't pay you anything.

Heat itself was fine. Radiator shopping was boring and people get defensive about "Would you like to pay to not have your heat be garbage" not having much nuance compared to even just basic arms shopping.

I still rate radiators slightly above balancer fins. Even as an AC4 lover those were just awkward filler. Though it seems a lot of people hated asymetrical builds so only cared about incremental "mash forward/backward" thrust changes.

It was a little overtuned in NX, but loved it in NB, FF and LR. It gave Radiators a real use when before all you needed was the starter radiator and the generator with highest output.

I think if AC 6 is a new beginning for the series, having limited options makes sense, as not to overwhelm the players, let's just hope they build upon this foundation and bring more customization options and more depth.

I think fins kinda made sense in AC4 universe, the ACs there wer mostly jets at that point.

Oh god the heat mechanic in AC3 Was so bad.
