I saw it put best by someone else on here a few days ago, that the problem isn't the zimmerman being best at close range. The problem is that you have to get the mid-range gear into close range for it to work, and the zimmerman beats the mid-range gear up close.
Higher velocity on rifles would go a long way to "nerf" zimmermans.
Sweet 16 - Shortest Range - Widest spread pattern - Highest Potential Damage/Impact.
Haldeman - Medium Range - Medium spread pattern - Medium Potential Damage/Impact.
Zimmerman - Long Range - Smallest spread pattern - Lowest Potential Damage/Impact.
Is how they should've balanced the three. You trade your maximum damage/impact for consistency when you pick up Zimmerman.
For the Haldeman, I would increase the rounds to around 130, and greatly increase reload to around 2 shots in the time a Zimmerman can shoot
For the Sweet Sixteen, I would remove the spread, 16 barrels? It should shoot relatively straight, I would also increase the rounds to 650
Also, several melee weapons are good counters in close quarters to zimms anyhow.
