Light-Weight Builds are only viable option?
AC6 is pretty much my first game in its style. I dabbled in Daemon X Machina, but the loot system sucked ass so I left. I really, really like AC6.

However, I can't seem to get anything done without the reverse-joint legs and a high mobility build. I really want to play with quads/heavy armor/big guns, but it's so slow in comparison, and while all the defense bonuses are nice, it only ends up meaning surviving three or four more hits from whatever giant laser beam is melting me, and now I can't dodge those because I don't have the super boost or jump.

I did start using the reverse-joint legs as soon as I got them, I thought they were cool. Did I put myself on a crutch? Do I just need to get good? And are the specific bits of gear that make for good heavy-weight builds?

Also the range on a charged piledriver is criminally low

Why do so many people like Melander parts so much? They just seem... meh to me.

Hold on, why the VE-20C? I'm 99.9% sure nothing in that build scales with Energy Firearm Damage.
Because it is the only one that fits without being overburdened or having an en shortfall before you switch over to coral ones.

Yeah, I noticed how restrictive the build is after assembling it. Why not just swap the core for something else though? Imo it's worth it for a better gen.

And I'd argue the VE-20C is better than most coral gens depending on your use case. Feels like it has more uptime than the Coral stuff.

I switched to coral for infinite flight.

This is basically the only use I could find in the Coral gens - they're *really* good for constantly airborne missile boats.

Naah, if you don't need the energy damage and use the Coral gens properly they basically give you infinite juice. Some people don't like going into exhaustion, but IMO it's worth the reward.

You can abuse them with reverse joints too. The jump is basically a free quick boost and by the time you land you have full energy again thanks to exhaustion recovery. Doesn't work with regular gens because of the reduced recovery rate while in the air.

because they're close to AC1/AC2 era parts in terms of looks

Probably this. AC2 was my first AC game.

Kinda had that feeling. Makes sense.

I'm fairly certain you could bring a human sized .22 LR target pistol in both arms and it'll work when you have the twin needles on the back
You can twin needle, dash at the enemy, hit it with a bazooka blast, into a charged lance hit, dash at the enemy, and the needles will be ready to fire again.

Most bosses are just staggering them as fast as you can, and missions are generally easy as hell, so it really doesn't matter what frame you use. Light, medium, heavy, doesn't matter. The weapons are all that matters. It's just killing stuff as fast as possible and your frame doesn't make a big difference in that, aside from meeting weight requirements. Of course there's things like melee spec if you use melee, firearm spec if you want better aim with medium/long range weapons, and energy weapon spec if you use energy weapons. As long as you can stagger bosses with your weapons, use whatever frame you want, it won't make a big difference. Give me 2 zims and 2 stun needles and the rest doesn't matter.

Plus, like on the mission where you fight the C-Spider, you can just fly under the bridge the whole way, and be able to ignore the lasers for most of the time. Just having those sort of options is nice. It is also amazing for dealing with that grinder wheel mission.
