You can do a literal 6 second TTK with quads against the cleaner so...
I am pretty sure the exhaust takes more damage than the front grill, the caveat is that you must aim directly down it else the damage is greatly reduced, whereas the front grill has no directional requirement (other than the arms blocking it of course)
On tank you can finish for S rank missions with bosses - they are easy
People that are looking to s rank are on the opposite side of the venn diagram to people that are brute forcing their way through the game with the wheelchair build
*even though everyone knows it's you*
Don't worry i have like 4-5 friends who play the game PS5 or PC and we talk about build.
You don't have friends who play the ACVI? I'm sorry for you mate.
Now the one who played wheelchair totally change his mind... He prefer the no wheelchair, no songbird no gatling build.
Why? Because now he enjoy the game with some challenge, for him ACVI was to easy with that kind of stuff (songbird, wheelchair, gatling).
Everybody can enjoy the game differently.
Some builds are easy newbie friendly to beat the game others are more harder.
The armor is the biggest thing I don't like about the exhaust strat. It's easier to not hit the grill armor than it is to not hit the exhaust armor, though some melee weapons will still hit the grill armor even on a stagger.
The only reason he's "GOOD" is because like every other youtuber out there he gets carried by his fans.
Shotguns can also be easy mode; though which ones are better depends on the mission. Zimmers are OP in many ways, but the early game shotty is better if you need faster shots to come out (e.g. there's a mission with suicide bombs and a messed up lock on; those shotties work decent to ensure you hit before losing 1k HP)
That said, I only use Tank Legs when I have to to S-Rank something and require Songbirds or something. They're so obnoxious to drive and poor at dancing in the air; even with the best generator.
There are two thing why this kind of build require little thinking or skill:
1.AI doesn't have the concept of kiting, they move on a set of order and usually have "window to attack" in their moveset. This translate into they probably gonna get hit by the 2 songbird, stagger, and then get shred by the 2 gatling.
2. Tank tread build usually have the highest AP, highest defense stats. This translate to capable of shrug off many boss skill that would have decimate other kind of build, allow them to keep the DPS going and and attack those "Window".
Tl;dr : Yes and kinda.
