Not really that much damage in practice. I used it a ton against sea spider and it's no pile bunker, that's for sure.
The moonlight blade is typically heavy and eats into your energy. If you're looking to shed weight and improve your EN output on your AC, dropping the Moonlight was an easy way to do it. And the idea was to beat the games without H+. That's how you knew you were good at the game.
I do agree its a lot more challenging without it though.
The Moonlight was the hardest hitting sword. But getting in close enough to use any sword in the old games meant you were probably taking shots to the face. I prefer to not take shots to the face. So I will agree to disagree about the Moonlight.
For me, it was the shoulder chaingun and grenade weapon arms.
Moonlight with H+ was objectively the best weapon in AC1. Massive damage, good range, infinite ammo.
I used the chaingun for most of the game, and a missile launcher... and I think Karasawa on shorter missions and something else on longer ones. Been a good 8 years since I last played the first game though.
You still have to hit with it. If your weapon can't land a hit, it's a glorified paper weight.
Waveblade Moonlight is still dumbfire weapon, like rockets. If you and I played vs match in the arena, I can guarantee your waveblade wasn't hitting me.
Laser Dagger for great combo damage or a huge ACS break build up
Redshift moonlight for Fast AF boys.
